Without quite the right tools for the job it can be difficult to use this kit, but it definitely does the job.I had sheered off a nozzle in the hotend of my 3D printer, because of how the 3D printer's put together, it would've been harder for me to take it apart than try to remove the sheered nozzle.I had to switch between different bits in this kit until one finally bit into the material and allowed me to extract the part - a couple of the bits stripped the thread, then I finally got a lock and with effort, away it came!Which makes it worth it, as the 3D printer is now printing successfully. This isn't something I intend on doing regularly, but it'll definitely help when it does happen.What does make it tricky to use is the fact that it's a magnetic 'bit' that is very short, you can't 'pull' on the work at all to encourage the whole part you're trying to extract to come out, so you're relying heavily on the kit's ability to unscrew the stuck piece. Only really useful if you have a good grip or purchase on the thing which you're trying to remove the sheered bolt or screw from to prevent it from spinning and don't put too much pressure on it.

Really good selection of sizes and very good quality.Worked a treat at removing a sheared head screw on a door hinge.My only complaint is that the supplied drill bits are a little short, particularly when the screw has sheared off part way down the screw shaft.

After some initial failures and scepticism, I worked out how to use this set more successfully. I initially tried using the smaller bits but these failed to loosen the screws. I realised afterwards that you need to use the largest possible bits in order to successfully remove embedded screws. The kit includes small drill bits and correspondingly sized threaded screw removers. You select the largest drill bit relative to the size of the screw head and drill into the screw head in reverse mode i.e. anti-clockwise, so you need a drill with reverse mode. After drilling a concave cavity into the screw head, you then insert the threaded screw remover bit, again in reverse mode. The drill should only be turning quite slowly for this and (hopefully) the threaded bit grips the screw head and loosens the screw. I was a little bit surprised at how well it worked, after some initial failures with the wrong sized bits. I’ve managed to cleanly remove some screws holding the handle on a wooden window frame, which would otherwise have needed to be drilled out (which removes the screw head but leaves the rest of the screw in the wood). As I said, I was pleasantly surprised by the results from using this set and it will definitely come in handy for future diy jobs.

Followed the instructions clearly, took care not to force anything (was extracting a bolt from a carbon fibre workpiece so I really took time over it) and the first time I put any rotational force through the extractor bit, it sheared and broke, leaving a piece of hardened steel in the hole. Since then I've had to buy a dremel, and have gone through more than fifty (50!) Diamond-tipped bits, and hours of my time trying to remove the piece of steel from the otherwise soft and vulnerable work piece. I'm considering contacting the manufacturer to claim for the cost of the piece, which is about £400 considering how unsuited to the task the hardware was, and the poor manufacturing/materials quality had ended up causing more issues and damage than just simply drilling out the offending aluminium screw would have done. Absolute bottom-tier garbage

I had some right royal PITA screws at the back of the oven that were preventing me from getting a cover off to replace a £30 element to save a £700 oven.So with these...First off - couldnt get them to bite.. so did a very small pilot hole in the screws... (having WD40'd them the night before)... then reversed the driver... added the drill then the extractor... andET VOLIA!!Worked..They arent Hugely strong already snapped one... but then the screws used on were hard and fast in the plate. SO NO critisim... as they actually add extras into the box!! Nice touchBE GENTLE and remember the reverse thread...Partience is kingPilot hole helpsWD40 definitely helps...

Ok for the first 3 bolts, but as soon as I put some extra pressure on the 4th bolt the extractor snapped leaving the broken piece inside the Allen bolt head !! Causing me extra problems !

I bought this item after breaking cheaper extractors when removing stripped screw from window.Worked as described without failure.However, from DIY perspective of using it maybe once a year, it is expensive.That is why I gave only 4 stars for value.Maybe having 2 separate sets (small sizes and large) at lower cost would be better?Still excellent product, especially if used on regular basis.

This works well for those times when you have over tightened a cr4ew with a power driver or drill so that you can;t use a screwdriver to undo it.I have used it with screws into wood that were rounded off, and it worked just fine, but when I tried it with a broken bolt on my Cross Trainer, it didn't;t, and didn't;t expect it to work, in fact in the end nothing worked!The bits have hardened tips, but they are not indestructible, which is why they supply some spares of the popular sizes. Just be careful, don't over drill anything, take your time and it will be fine.Make sure you drill in the middle of the screw, sounds easy, but it is important.All in all , a handy extra to have up your sleeve when a screw head has been destroyed.
