Useful tool in the kitchen
Definitely not as accurate like a 100k machine in the lab but if a food product has high nitrit level will show it as high no matter how many times you measure, so yes it does the job

Rubish device
I have tested this device on a watermelon The Greentest Eco device does not have a mini chemistry lab inside to specifically count nitrate molecules. Instead, it measures the electrical conductivity of the fruit. The Science: The device sends a small electrical current through the metal prongs and measures the resistance. The theory is that lower resistance (higher conductivity) means higher nitrate ion concentration. The Catch: Nitrates are not the only things that conduct electricity. Natural salts, minerals, fruit acids, and even the density of the fruit's cells can increase electrical conductivity. Therefore, a very juicy, mineral-rich watermelon could give a high conductivity reading that the device mistakenly translates as "excessive nitrates." Inconsistency: Reviewers and scientific users have noted that conductivity-based meters can be unreliable. If you pull the probe out and insert it into the exact same hole, or push it into a denser part of the melon, the pressure changes the pulp density, and you will likely get a completely different reading. 2. The Truth About Nitrates in Food - There is a lot of fear surrounding nitrates, but context is incredibly important: They are naturally occurring: Nitrates are naturally found in soil and water, and many healthy foods are packed with them. Dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach and kale), celery, and beets are naturally very rich in nitrates. Your body makes them: You might be surprised to learn that the vast majority of nitrates and nitrites you are exposed to come from your own saliva, not your food. They can be healthy: In fresh fruits and vegetables, nitrates are accompanied by Vitamin C and antioxidants. When you digest them, your body converts them into nitric oxide, a beneficial molecule that can improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health. The warning on my screen is based on a broad estimation of conductivity, not a precise chemical analysis. Nitrate itself is relatively non-toxic, and any absorbed nitrate disappears from your blood in less than five minutes. Unless the watermelon smells fermented, has a mushy or slimy texture, or tastes sour/off, it is almost certainly perfectly safe—and healthy—to eat. We are mostly looking at a reading of the melon's natural water and mineral content!

Inacuracy up to 50%
I bought this device a month ago and was thinking that was everything fine. I did have however some concerns about water hardness tests but could not prove that was anything wrong. Yesterday I did check potatoes from two sources to compare. The reading of the worst potato was 300mg of Nitrates so it was above the safe tolerance. When I checked the same potato again, second time the same piece was tested 220. I had picked up another potato which result was 150 at the first time. Second measurement shown the figure of 120 and the third test result was 100 of the same potato. Very inaccurate and would not recommend it. The reason why I bought it was the price in comparison to the competitors but even that money seems to be wasted.

Inaccurate device
This device is inaccurate. I have have read manufacture instruction and followed all steps each time prior to use but measurements were not correct and some times false. I would not recommend this device to any one to buy it. Waste of money.

Great product.
Works great. Already threw away a whole watermelon after purchase, due to it had to mane nitrates.. other fruit and vegetables were good so far. It came in perfect condition, completely new, never used.
