Silent fan that moves a lot of air
This fan was the easiest install ever. Just three wires. All the electronics that fans normally have externally are internal. The quality is very good for a fan. The blades are plastic because it would be stupid to make them out of solid wood. It would also be too hard to balance. You can't tell it is plastic once it is mounted. I love how people complain that they are made in china. News flash... 99% of fans are made in overseas. I can't hear the fan even on the fastest speed. It moves a ton of air. It is the best looking fan I have seen. I am going to buy a second for my bedroom.

Great, then bad...
We purchased fan in early June and shipping was quick. Installation was simple and straight forward, after being in the attic for two hours running power and a rough-in box. The first two to three weeks it worked great, however we did notice the "clicking" at speeds 5 and 6 that another reviewer stated was due to static discharge between plastic blades and motor housing. We know we can fix that with a film of grease, but our problem is the blades now produce a loud "knock" and nothing we do seems to end it. I have had this fan apart at least eight times trying to diagnose where and what the knock is, and even a another trip into the attic to check the box, but we cannot get this knock to go away. After more than a bit of thought I tried putting very thin pieces of paper between blades where they seem together at the hub. This helped to quiet the knock, but not eliminate it. After a few hours the knock came back in all its glory and I had to shut the fan off. I can understand plastic blades due to size and shape of blades, but I can't understand designing the fit to each other such that they knock to a such a degree we have to shut the fan off. I contacted Minka service and they sent a new DC receiver that I swapped out but that was not the issue. I was told to work any warranty process with dealer. If a replacement fan does not cure this knock, the whole fan is going back and we will look at a similar style by another manufacturer. A $560 fan should work so well it could almost make a me a drink while I enjoy the fan. Highly disappointed. Update: changing from one to three stars now that dealer sending new fan without expecting old fan to be shipped back first. Will update again after new fan installed and running silent for a few months.

Plastic blades!!!!
This expensive fan has PLASTIC BLADES which are packaged in beautiful cloth sleeves to keep them from getting scratched! I ordered two - one for the family room and one for an adjacent bedroom. Now there is a conflict with the remote controls that the included instructions cannot seem to resolve.

Noisy expensive DC fan
Bought this Minka Aire (Aviation) DC motor fan for a home in Florida. Noise free at first then the fan even on low presented without a clicking sound. Finally figured it out. The screws that attach the blades to the fan had to be loosened and not tightened as instructed, only snugged. Somehow tightening the screw blades sets up a vibration causing this annoying clicking. So far the fan now is extremely quiet. The manufacturer should address this issue.

Really nice looking, quiet fan
We love this fan so far. It is very pretty, moves plenty of air and is quiet. It was the final piece of our living room remodel. It's worth noting that the fan blades are made of a thick plastic rather than real wood, but we knew that when we purchased and they look totally real. So far we are quite happy!

Excellent quality of construction
Excellent quality of construction. No issues with wobble at any of the 6 speeds. Super easy to install and looks very classy. Installed it in our master bedroom (14ft ceiling) with a 24 inch down-rod. The down-rod is 3/4 inch thick made by Minka Pushes a nice breeze on speeds 1 & 2 and just goes up from there. Never need it to run higher than speed 2 to keep the room nice and cool. Wish they made a 70 inch version that we could put in our two story family room. Bought this fan after trying the Monte Carlo 60 inch Maverick. The Maverick had a crazy wobble starting at speed 3 and got significantly worse at speed 6.

Bad fan design or lemon?
We have experienced two serious problems with this fan. It wobbles terribly and will not reach speed above level 3 on a six speed fan. We had fan professionally installed (the same electrician installed 6 other fans in our new home without incident. Nonetheless we contacted a another electrician for second opinion. Both said the fan was defective. Not acceptable for a $674 fan! This was the most expensive fan we purchased from Amazon for our new home. The other 6 cheaper fans all worked perfectly. We have contacted seller and we will update this review and modify rating to indicate whether issue ultimately resolved to our satisfaction or not.
