It has been 3 terrific years since I started doing electrical work in comercial buildings 9/2023. And lasted till today 9/26. Very strong and very easy to read. Lightweight and the price is very good. Definitely buying another one.

Heavy duty for sure
Just received today. Quality seems to be fine. Wish they were manufactured in the US. If that were the case I am due the price would have been much higher. I normally buy Kobalt from Lowe’s but decided to give these a try. Like the Kobalt, they fit the hand perfectly. I actually like the Spec Ops 25’ feel better than the Kobalt. Seems heavy duty enough and love the back side measurements on the blade. I will pst an update in the future.

Much better than FatMax, Milwaukee, etc.
I have used every brand tape measure daily over the past 10+ years doing new construction. Most of the brands seemed to have good years and eventually decline into a cheaper quality, but still a $25 price tag. After using Fatmax for years and eventually switching to mostly Milwaukee, I finally got tired of throwing my money away and decided to try a tape that wasn't a big brand. The pros: I have used this tape daily foe 10 months now. The tape itself has not cracked or twisted unlike most other tapes around. The hook is large all around, but not too large where it can get in the way. A magnetic variety may be a good addition. I have dropped this tape uncountable times and even from several stories up. It continues to operate like new. The cons: The coating on the tape itself wears considerably. Especially on the bottom side. This makes it illegible. The coating still lasts longer than most brands though. My biggest complaint is the belt clip. My tape measure is on and off of my belt clip of my pouches many, many, many times a day. The phillips screw holding the clip to the tape measure holds up fine. The clip holds up fine. However, there is a small plastic lug molded into the body of the tape measure that is supposed to keep the clip in place. This plastic lug is the weakest part of the entire assembly. Within no time, the clip spins freely on the body. Overall, the tape measure is the best one I have found for daily construction use and abuse. The belt clip design is definitely frustrating, but I will live with that for the overall quality.

Great tape measure. Love the increments. Holding up well. Just wish it had a magnet.

Great Features, But Too Flimsy for Everyday Carpentry!
The biggest drawbacks to this tape are the poor standout and the lack of a durable coating. The tape itself feels pretty thin and flimsy, which is disappointing because I really like almost everything else about it. The white-on-black markings are easy to read, the measurements on both sides are useful, and the pullout tab is a great feature. Originally, I would have given it 5 stars if the blade were a little thicker and better coated. Update 9/7/26: Dropped another star. After actually putting this tape to work on the jobsite, it just doesn’t hold up to everyday carpentry use. For a homeowner or occasional DIY use, it would probably be perfectly fine. After only one day of regular use with a slight drizzle, the tape stopped retracting properly and the blade is already starting to rust. That’s a dealbreaker for a tape that’s supposed to live in a carpenter’s pouch. Unfortunately, I’m going back to my trusty FatMax.

One inch wide, clear, markings both sides, imperial/US only
One inch wide scale. One sixteenth inch minimum interval. Scale on both sides. Counts up in inches. Foot intervals labelled in feet, above one foot there are secondary markings showing how many inches you are into the new foot (not feet and inches). Multiples of sixteen inches are highlighted to keep the binary theme going, maybe useful for plasterboard studs. Only fully imperial (or US) modern tape measure have seen in the U.K. Useful for carpentry etc where raw materials from hardware shop are in millimetres but work out to round number of feet or inch fractions. Ideal companion to a millimetre only tape if you want to keep systems separate, ensure readability and be able to read same system both sides. Now U.K. is more exposed to non-EU suppliers imperial / US measured items seem more prevalent, so this tape measure is a handy tool for dealing with all that.

Fabulous 16’ tape measure
Spec Ops - SPEC-TM16: Fabulous 16’ tape measure. No complaints whatsoever out of the gate. Love the clear double sided measure and clear illustrated fractions. Beautifully legible. My partner does not understand the unmarked measurements on a ruler, so when I saw this tape I knew it would not only be excellent for me, but also a learning tool serving as a clear way for my partner to understand what 5/8" etc means. Wide blade and perfect compact size. The lock stays locked, it engages/disengages easily without the need for excessive force and you actually feel it lock in place. Priced fair. My other two tapes which I've always loved are Stanley FatMax, but I wish I had known about these Spec Ops tapes sooner because all of my tapes otherwise would have been Spec Ops. The scale measurements accurately matches up with my Stanley FatMax. And, with 3% being donated to veteran and first responder causes; I can’t argue with that. If you’re considering to buy a tape measure; I would say, don't hesitate, buy this one.
