AquaClear Quick Filter A-575 Powerhead Attachment (fits most sizes AquaClear Powerheads)

Versatile prefilter that works a lot better than a sponge! It remains clear long after most sponges clog! I easily connected it to a HOB filter and I use it as the only filter in 2 different aquariums on 2 different sized power heads. A 40 gallon breeder and a standard 55 gallon. It seems to be fragile so handle with caution but I would think it would be easy to fix if it were to break. Moderately easy to rinse filter and reuse numerous times. Sometimes a bit of detritus gets stuck in the center and needs picked out with some tweezers. Not a major hassle but still an inconvenience. It is much larger than a sponge and does not fit well in aquariums under 15 or 20 gallons. I have it on a HOB filter in a 10 gallon and it pretty much sits on the substrate and is a little more than an inch from the surface of the water.

Needed this to be able to reuse the power heads they fit because we removed the under gravel filter due to a pest snail out break. This works great when doubled up per power head to hold it up high off the bottom on our 90 gallon tank. the under gravel filter tubes used to hold it for us. We never had the clips or suction cups to hold it up. It's about the size of a tall pop/beer can and doubles up nicely. It will provide more bio filtering while the new sand bottom that replaced stones takes hold. (off topic) We were told that fluval cycle is the very best for only important bacteria to save the tank with all the fish still in it after making such a change and it did exactly that and we lost no fish. You could see it trying to get bad and then you add the fluid and it's crystal clear again. This is great info for those who make major changes to their tanks like we had to. We didn't loose any fish or plants.

The AquaClear Quick Filter is a pretty effective water polisher. There isn't much else that you can say about it. That is what the Quick Filter was designed for and essentially all it does. The AquaClear Quick Filter Refill Cartridge filter sleeves have a fine mesh that prevents all but the most minuscule particles from passing through; great for polishing water but because of this, the AquaClear Quick Filter clogs fast. I use the filter only after gravel vacuuming or any disturbances in my substrate. It will clear my 150 gallon tank in about 12 hours with an AquaClear 70 Powerhead on full. The filter comes with two plastic media cages that the filter sleeve wraps around. These cages also serve as a place for carbon, peat or zeolite to be added, but because the filter clogs quickly, these media baskets are fairly pointless other than to wrap the filter sleeves around. The upside of The AquaClear Quick Filter is that it is exactly what it says it is, a 'quick' filter, and as a quick filter, the AquaClear is perfect. As a biological or chemical filter, the AquaClear Quick Filter is essentially useless. But that is what other filters are for, right?

This is a great addition to any filter or power head. I use them for. polishing with fine filter floss. Pre-filter with course sponges. Extra bio media. The value is definitely worth the price.

I ordered this because it says it fits all sizes of AquaClear filters and I have a 110 in a turtle's tank. If you know turtles, they are quick to dirty a tank and I thought this would be a perfect addition to keep her water a little more clear between changes. It turns out it fits all sizes of filter EXCEPT the 110 (according to the box.) I kept it because I can still use it for other tanks and it just isn't worth my time to return it, but the description needs to be corrected.

I run a 120 gallon tank with two of these and the water is absolutely crystal clear. I also run co2 through a line that goes in through a hole that I drilled in the bottom and comes out a sweetwater airstone inside the cylinder. This works even better than the a co2 reactor. I put some filtrr media in the cylinders and that is the only filtration I have or need. The best and cheapest co2 injection and filtration system possible for my tank

It gave my aquarium crystal clear water in conjunction with a aquarium filter. Also use no carbon or other things inside of it just put the bag around the cage and let it run it will act as your bio max. Use the other filter for activated carbon. End wait and see the results you will be astonished

These cartridges and the inserts, clarify the Aquarium water so very quickly and are easy to clean! They are also usable and reusable for year's and year's! Kind regards Martin Avent
