The Beatles’ Abbey Road is a masterpiece filled with classic songs, such as “Come Together,” “Something,” and “Here Comes the Sun." George Martin told the Beatles to think “symphonically,” and they responded by creating the remarkable Side Two song suite.Abbey Road was the last time that the Beatles recorded together at EMI Studios — soon-to-be-christened Abbey Road Studios. Despite the bittersweet atmosphere that surrounded the recording sessions, The Beatles’ outstanding songs and performances, together with George Martin’s orchestrations, produced an album that is regarded as one of the best of all time.In the 2-film 'Deconstructing Abbey Road' set (Side One and Side Two) Beatleologist Scott Freiman has created one of his most in-depth “deconstructions.” Let Scott take you on an educational journey -- track-by-track -- explaining the inspiration for the songs and their evolution in the studio. Side One Freiman explores the so-called “song side” of Abbey Road, with deep dives into “Come Together,” “Something,” “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” with additional analysis of “The Ballad of John and Yoko” and “Old Brown Shoe.” Side Two Learn about the Eastern rhythms on “Here Comes the Sun,” the influence of Beethoven on “Because,” and why “Her Majesty” ended up as the album’s hidden track. Then explore the entire Side Two medley. Also includes deconstructions of “Give Peace a Chance” and “Come and Get It.” Special features: Janet Maslin (president of Jacob Burns Film Center and former film critic for the New York Times) interviews Scott. “Mini deconstruction” video on “Come and Get It.” __ "Deconstructing The Beatles" is a multimedia lecture series conceived and delivered by Scott Freiman. 2019 Deconstructing the Music, LLC. Scott Freiman does an excellent job of researching the background of the songs and the technical aspects of the recordings. He is lively and enthusiastic. I have seen many Ken Burns and Great Courses (which can for 18 hours - how about The Higgs Boson for 12 hours!) and Scott fits in - educational and entertaining. I will get some if not all of the other Beatles lectures. Now, I must say, if you have ever been in a recording studio, these will be very impressive as Scott goes into sound boards, synthesizers, etc. To the guy who said Leslie speakers don't rotate - the two horns rotate - the singel bass speaker is stationary with a rotating baffle. Both create a Doppler effect with stationary mics. Review: Loving it! - I wasn’t sure I’d like this, but I’m geeking out to it! This is mostly about how the song was recorded and who was involved. It includes where the story in the song came from, but it’s not about how they wrote it. It’s a lot about what happened while they were recording it and during all the different demos. If you are a musician, I think you’ll love it.

Interesting and entertaining.
This is a Christmas gift for a cousin who loves music. People usually give him biographies of musicians which he's not so interested in. This DVD set deconstructs the making of the music instead in easy to understand language. I ordered it after seeing Scott Freiman on Public television. Even as a lyman I found it interesting and engaging.

Another excellent "deconstruction", full of spot-on analysis and details, musical and otherwise!
This is another very well-done presentation and analysis of the Beatles' albums. I was very pleasantly surprised how prompt the delivery was, and the product itself was tops - excellent.

Rediscovering The Beatles
After watching this DVD, I realize that I short-shrifted the greatest band of all time of their collective genius. For anyone who appreciates the music of the Fab Four, this DVD is a MUST have.

This is a excellent presentation by Scott Freeman of the final album the Beatles made in 1969 together. Even thou it’s a lecture in front of a audience it works just as well as a documentary. It’s a detailed look at the recording of “Abbey Road“ in July August 1969 track by track. With some fascinating background of how each song was written and the instruments used in the recording process. Although it’s not about the Beatles break up it does touch on that subject. We see George Harrison’s growing frustration with his songwriting being ignored by Lennon and McCartney. And the business bust up over a new manager (the others insisting on Alien Klein over Paul’s objections). And John Lennon’s heroin addiction and lack of interest in the band. All playing a part in the big break up in 1970. Although not an official DVD on the making of the album I highly recommend this one as it’s the closest you will ever get to one.
