I read the negative reviews so I wore gloves, I didn't need them as a matter of fact no tools at all are needed. What I did in the precise order it was done: Connect regulator hose to the generator. Connect adapter to the regulator end of hose. Screw on 1 lb propane bottle to adapter. No tools, no leaks. Adapter DOES NOT HAVE A CHECK VALVE. I used 3.2 oz of propane running the generator for 14 minutes with a 1,240 watt load. Generator ran smoothly. no leaks, no hiccups. This adapter did exactly what I need it, SAVE my back. When I was done with the test I reversed the order from before: Unscrew propane bottle from adapter ( I did this 3 times to make sure the first time was not a fluke). Unscrew adapter from regulator. Unscrew hose from generator. I never disregard when someone here has a bad experience with a product, however with the adapter that was sent to me everything worked perfectly and I do recommend the adapter, it worked without leaks and there was no gas spraying from bottle. I recommend keeping propane bottle fully upright during connecting and use. Excellent product, no complaints.

This adapter is great very solid and well made however, one "flaw". The adapter is just that it is just a piece to make one" thing" fit another "thing" That being said hook up to the 20lb side first not the small bottle other wise you will be getting a face full of propane, I know. I was suspicious of the adapter so I slowly attached to the small bottle without being attached to the hose and sure enough it turned the small bottle into a spewing fountain of propane. Just attach to the hose with the regulator and your good same with disconnection unscrew the small bottle first.

Great product and it makes it so much easier and convenient to use a small propane tank instead of carrying around a larger tank .

I have a "portable" folding combo grill/griddle that's actually quite substantial & I wasn't thrilled with the thought of also lugging a full-sized propane tank with it. I also had several small tanks from a previous grill on hand that now weren't going to be used. This inexpensive adapter solved the issue of needing a full sized tank & saved wasting the small tanks. It worked like a charm! The adapter fits perfectly, so much so, that I set up the portable grill next to my regular sized one to have more options at home & don't have to invest in another large tank. Absolutely thrilled!

I bought this adapter to convert a gas grill and a weed burner torch for 1 pound gas cylinders. This makes them portable.
