Mostly good enough for just about everything stereo.
Bought these for my kids for first sound system to run with a bluetooth turntable and TV setup along with the add-on subwoofer for a bit more low-end. Probably more a 4.5 score for some cabling limitations and issues, but from a "sound" perspective they are the best thing for the price I can imagine. I'm even contemplating dumping my expensive hi-fidelity system for the simplicity and plenty "good-enough" sound they provide. I won't claim they'll make the most discriminating audiophile happy, but it is hard to find any fault sound wise. Set them up for Christmas, streamed some ripped music from my CD collection through my phone/bluetooth and marveled at how good the stereo separation was and how clear and well defined the reproduction was. Played a couple of albums on the turntable and literally shed tears over how nice it was to sit and hear a good stereo staged sound experience once again - something I'd lost track of over the digital era. These won't do if you are trying to run a huge party and anger the neighbors, but for a living room/family room listening experience and simplicity in setup, they create a quite good stereo music experience for a very affordable price with plenty of punch and volume for any use I can think of - more than enough for a big cinematic score, favorite music track, or just streaming tunes from your phone while working around the house - loud enough to hurt your ears if wanted. 4.5 as I say as the remote is needlessly cheap and the wiring limitations (can't connect the two satellites and subwoofer more than 10/12 feet apart or some such thing) is a problem to check out before you buy, but if that isn't a limitation, they are great. I have another Edifier set I use with my computer and quality for the price simply is great. While I'd love a great high end Marantz amp, huge monster cables to my old time favorite Acoustic Research (AR) top-end speakers, bi-amplified and all, at this point my aging ears will really only get an incremental boost from the like and extra $10,000, so simpler and less expensive is actually more than good enough. Powered so no need for a separate amp/receiver, paired with either coax or bluetooth quite good, even, monitor quality (flat soundstage - steady) sound, and accessible in the digital era. Go with an amp and discrete speakers if you have more than 2 or 3 sources, but for a turntable, CD/DVD, and bluetooth phone/tablet streaming, a great setup. Really attractive cabinets too for the price - I liked the angled face for a standard 10/12 foot distance from a usual TV stand height, seemed to position the sound correctly. Disappointed the subwoofer couldn't be in a matching cabinet though, another reason for the 4.5 - nothing to do with sound.

Sounds great, but get the subwoofer
This system sounds awesome, if paired with a subwoofer. Without a sub, the bass is lacking, but itโs simply unrealistic to expect 4 inch speakers to reproduce robust bass sounds. The T5s subwoofer I ordered with the 1700 BTS arrived a few days after the 1700. The system easily connects via Bluetooth. In my estimation, this unit is a great value for the money.

Really nice, and worth the extra $'s for the subwoofer out.
I had purchased a small pair of Edifier bluetooth computer speakers, that were just what I needed, but the permanently attached cables that limited them to being 5ft apart didn't work for me, so I returned them and upgraded to these at 2x the price. These speakers are overkill for what I need, but man do they sound good. I opted for these vs a cheaper set because they had a subwoofer out option. Glad I did. An old Cambridge Soundworks subwoofer I had works with these. These speakers sound great on their own, but the subwoofer pushes them over the top. The sound becomes more three dimensional and room filling. The bluetooth works great with all my devices so far, and the included remote is a nice touch. The included cable to connect the left speaker is long and will accommodate just about any placement you have in mind. The speakers came packed really well, kudos to Edifier on that. Definitely seems like a premium product. The only criticism I have is minor. I wish they had a separate knob for selecting between inputs. I don't like multi function buttons, where you have to push and hold for one thing, and quick pushes for others. The remote mitigates that annoyance. These are substantial speakers, so if your looking for something small, these might not be for you. If I have problems, I'll update this review, but so far so good. Excellent speakers for someone needing self-powered bluetooth capable speakers. The subwoofer out for only $10 more than the ones without it is worth it, imo. Much more versatile and room filling if you have a subwoofer laying around, or would like to add one later.

Ok...not great...just ok.
Needed a small set of powered speakers with Bluetooth primarily for streaming music and listening to some old CDs we have. Not a huge room so wanted something compact with good enough sound. Don't need huge volume, mostly background music. These are good looking speakers and definitely compact. Don't need a standalone amp and a not a lot of money. Fast delivery. Fit the needs. Sound is so-so. Definitely better bookshelve options available, but most not bluetooth and you'll need a amp of some sort. And will be more expensive. They have this feature called Soundfield Spacializer, but oddly they make no mention of what its purpose is in the instructions? Google suggests its for a more enhanced sound if close up such as using as computer speakers. In a small to medium room, they really don't offer any sound improvement. You can hear a difference,...just not better or worse. With it turned on the sound is a bit sharper but lacks base. In general they really lack base in both modes, which is understandable considering the size. Not super sharp sound but they work like cheap computer speakers, which they basically are. I've ordered the subwoofer and possibly when it arrives, they'll be a bit better. Im happy with them as is, just not thrilled. No wow impact. Edit: Bought the Edifier subwoofer and the speakers sound much better now that they have some bottom end. Oddly, the wood grain finish is totally different on the subwoofer and speakers. No big deal...just a bit odd.

These speakers are the shiznit
These Edifier speakers sound incredible. The audio is crisp and clean across the entire range, and even at 100% volume thereโs no distortion or harshness. Bass is tight, mids are clear, and highs are smooth without being fatiguing. Setup was simple, and once connected they immediately outperformed my PCโs built-in speakers by a huge margin. They feel solid and well-built, and the sound quality honestly punches above the price. Perfect for a desk or home office setup. If you want loud, clean, high-quality sound without messing with an external amp or complicated setup, these are absolutely worth it. Highly recommend

GREAT SPEAKERS!
Was hesitant at first because they are bookshelf size. So glad I bought these! Not disappointed!!! Was using Bluetooth to a Bose Soundbar to play my Turntable. Now I have it direct connected to these Speakers. Even though these speakers can connect via Bluetooth, I recommend connecting them directly to the turntable via included RCA jacks. Sounds tons better than Bluetooth! I do recommend also buying Floor stands if you donโt have shelves to put them on. Highly recommend these speakers. Donโt understand the complaints about the Bass & Remote control. Bass is great for me and remote works fine.

Audiophile approved for less than audiophile anything
Was researching quality budget compact speakers for a garage turned into a hang out room. Budget was a concern since someone else was purchasing them. I've been an audiophile for decades and love doing research, and these Edifiers popped up time and again. List price is already low, but these are frequently on sale too. If you take the time to set them up properly (how wide apart they are, toe-in, etc, as well as the treble and bass controls) they are, in a word, amazing. Not just amazing for the price (although certainly that) but seriously impressive. I've got them around 8' apart and my main listening position is about 10' away. You can see this in my pic. Despite having them *inside* bookcases and zero room treatment of any kind, I get good soundstage width and depth, focussed center imaging and impressive bass for their size and woofer diameter. You can be one and done there. However, I highly recommend getting the matching T5 sub to take advantage of that sub-out option on the back. The T5 brings the bass, and the whole enchilada. I can play any genre of music, including bass-heavy, and this trio sounds superb and can hit HARD. I also have to give kudos to the tweeter and midrange drivers on these. Not the last word in anything, but they work splendidly in all genres regardless. The cohesion, non-fatigue factor and nice full midrange just project sound that belies what the speakers look like. I can turn this little system up to the point where the entire garage sounds like a concert or a club, and they don't break a sweat. TL;DR: Coming from an audiophile, I'm highly, highly impressed with these speakers, and not just for the money. Add the T5 sub and give setup some thought and time, and you've got a system that you won't believe how good it sounds, especially considering the prices.

Worth it.
Great sound. Bass is a bit lacking. I paired mine with a sub I found on sale and the setup sounds fantastic.

Go for it ๐
I'm loving my Edifier R1700BTs! The sound quality is impressive, and the design is sleek. The bass is deep and rich, and the treble is clear. They're perfect for music, movies, and gaming. The price point is super competitive too! ๐๐๐๐, adding a Edifier T5 subwoofer is a perfect punch

Blouetooth iPhone 12: SBC
UPDATE: MQA from Tidal, iFi Neo DAC with MQA support, expensive cables, including special USB audio cable, SVS SB-2000 Pro subwoofer, and it sounds crystal clear even at low volume settings, for all kinds of music. Unbelievable quality. But... even USB cable can make a difference, there is no "error correction & packet resending" for synchronous audio, you will get 10%-15% errors with typical $10 cables. Cables would cost more than these speakers :) even YouTube movies (in HD) sound differently, I hear very clear background sounds (birds, etc); I think I can hear better now :) (for my age, 15kHz is nice!) Here is log from Console: "A2DP configured at 44.1 KHz. Codec: SBC, Bitpool: 53 (327 kbps). 7 frames * 119 bytes = 833 per RTP (max=879) every 20.32 ms" Research shows that it is SBS, but best one: "bitpool: 53". I am listening "Master" recording from Tidal, and it outperforms my newest Enacfire E90 (which supports AAC). No any issues with sound quality: outstanding! Bluetooth is super responsive. But I also ordered " SVS SB-2000 PRO" ... just for fun. I was worried about this SBC... chipset is Qualcomm 3031, Aptx-HD. My iPhone doesn't support AptX. And rumours say AAC is even better. So, I don't have AAC. Just a rumours :) Try to research "bitpool: 53" and you will find it is "High Quality Joint-Stereo Mode, 328kbps". Do't trust to "HiRes" on other models: Aptx HD doesn't support that, CD-Quality is about 1440kbps. I am still researching. But I believe the company uses this Qualcomm chip by reasons and of course they tried to find the best option, including for iPhone 12 Max Pro. It outperforms my other Bluetooth devices with AAC (Bose SoundSPort, Sennheiser over-ear, etc). UPDATE: I use small DAC now which is even expensive than these speakers :) These speakers are not HiRes certified (and even uncertified they don't support digital input nor they have internal DAC). My small tiny DAC... costed me USD$200 on sale, plus taxes & fees. Apogee Groove. I instantly noticed sound is better than Bluetooth. And finally, stupid me, I opened MIDI Setup on MacBook Pro and set it to 192kHz, two-channel 24-bit, unbelievably clarity of vocals! I think my setup is cheaper and quality is better than 1000+ "certified HiRes" speakers, especially for MacBook: I use USB to output digital signal, and (thick&expensive) coaxial from DAC to speakers. I enjoy it... waiting for my sealed subwoofer; for music best is "sealed", for movies and hip-hop - ported.

Great deal on these kick butt speakers
Really nice quality and great looks. I use them for my PC desktop and they sound really amazing with the sub-woofer Edifier T5s Powered Active Subwoofer with 70W RMS. Great price too.
