Control all your electronic stuff with this
This is my second RM4 pro and it's in my workshop. I control my wall mounted A/C (mini split), sound system, dust collector/vacuum and ceiling mounted air filter. Three are IR controlled, one is RF controlled and everything runs off my phone now. These things are like the universal translator from star trek! I can also check the temperature in the workshop before I go out there, and decide if I should run the heater or air conditioner ahead of time. Great product.

worked like a charm
Used this for controlling a fan and Ceiling light. one was RF and the other was IR. This unit handled them both. The only issue I have is that both devices only have a power button and not and on and off. I just mapped it to both the on and off and it works but it would be nice if the remotes had a dedicated on and off. they might but it is not on the remote. Of course that is not the fault of this remote control. It works as advertised.

So far a good product
Update: I added my TV. My model was on the list and it loaded right up and is working great! Neat product, could use some improvement. I initially purchased this so I could run my IR controlled A/C that is in the Front Room from my Bedroom with my phone. It worked ...but, I had to program the remote on the phone myself cause my AC model wasn't in the database. No big deal, really. The setup tutorial was easy enough and straightforward as long as I didn't try getting ahead of myself. It takes a little time so I'd suggest not diving into it if you're in a hurry. I got the IR blaster With RF for future projects. I'd like to run some plant irrigation drippers, fans and lights for an indoor vegetable and flower garden. I hope it works. Some minor issues that I wish could get looked into is the temperature reads as Celsius and I can't find a way to change it over to Fahrenheit. Also, the Temp+ and Temp- buttons only work as temperature presets and don't change the temp incrementally. That's a little annoying but I can live with it. Overall, a handy piece of kit.

Sneaky good product very flexible
Very flexible product. I put it in my RV and it controls the TV, the sound bar, vent fan, and diesel heater. The temp/humidity sensor helps to know interior temps to manage remotely when I am not there. No more paying waggle, just this and an old phone running alfred. The ability to manually program when it doesn't know the functions makes it even better. Now if the firestick remote misses the sound bar I can either pull out my phone or tell Alexa to turn on the soundboard. I added it to my MIL home so she can audibly control the tv as part of a scene turning on the lights and tv.

Be warned: DO NOT BUY
Original: Wish I could rate it a zero. Product worked for about a month. Then died. Resetting it to factory settings didn’t help. Tried contacting the vendor multiple times since it was no longer eligible for a return with Amazon. Vendor ignored my emails. All. The. Time. Absolute crap. Don’t buy. Update 10/21/2025: Was able to get in touch via e-mail with tech support. Product is working again but it is hit or miss regarding RF use. Bumped it to 3 stars. If you need support do not follow the Amazon link for Broadlink tech support, instead email [email protected]. Your mileage may vary for IR use. Update 10/31/2025, after talking to both Amazon and Broadlink support, here's my last word on this garbage product and even worse support efforts. Amazon said that they would take it up with the vendor and get back within 48 hours. I asked for a ticket number and it was a "trust me bro" experience. Crickets afterwards. Back and forth with Broadlink. They determined the RM4Pro is working as designed. The problem they determined (without ever looking at anything other than my emails) is that the RF device uses rolling codes and thus they are just doing the best they can. I lost my money, this is unusable. Don't be me. Don't buy this POS.

1+ Year Review, Still Loving it! 😍🤩
Amazingly, I bought this little device over 1 year ago. It has been continuously plugged-in & working flawlessly ever since! I literally use it daily with Alexa voice commands to control multiple devices around the house. I control my TV; ceiling fan; mini-split AC Unit; and a bunch of cheap IR outlet plugs that I have connected around the house. At first, the phone App used to be clunky and weird-looking, but now it feels and looks more polished. However, I rarely use the app since I have all devices controlled by voice or automated routines. This little device connects via WiFi and can basically learn the signals of any RF or IR remote controls. You point the remote to the Broadlink and it learns it. So I bought a pack of dirt cheap IR outlet plugs here on Amazon. I made several appliances smart and able to be controlled with voice commands or automated routines. This now includes my printer; paper-shredder; power outlet next to my bed (to avoid overcharging my phone at night); LED lights strips behind TV; and high capacity external HDD connected to my main computer. The benefit of using IR plugs versus WiFi plugs; is that WiFi constantly consumes data and bandwidth frequencies on your WiFi Router. Which leads to slowing down your WiFi. Also the more WiFi devices you have the more potential security holes you have in your home network for hackers. Thus, this device helps solve these problems. The cheap IR plugs help turn any dumb devices to smart devices. I believe Broadlink also has their own brand of smart outlets but I have not used those. The pro version that comes with an indoor temperature and humidity sensor cable (pic attached) costs a bit more. However, it is totally worth it since you can use it to set up automated routines to turn on/off your AC unit or dehumidifier once your indoor temperature or humidity reaches a certain level. The only 2 inconveniences about this device are; (1) device does not come with wall USB-A wall power brick, you have to provide your own; (2) that the “sensor cable” (which also powers this device) is way too short. I guess optionally you could get a USB extender cable if necessary. Just wish it had been a little bit longer. I just connected my Broadlink next to my nightstand since it is closest to my bed in order to get the best temperature reading for when I sleep. Also comes with optional wall mounting attachment. I definitely recommend this device. Well worth it for its versatility of multiple uses and longevity.

2.4 GHz disclosure wasn’t enough — setup is fragile, frustrating, and challenging to modern networks
They disclosed 2.4 GHz-only — but disclosure didn’t prepare me for how fragile and poorly communicated the setup really is. To be fair, Broadlink does state that this device is 2.4 GHz-only. That part was clear, and I went into this expecting basic IoT limitations. What wasn’t clear is how brittle and poorly communicated the setup process is, even when you already know you’re dealing with 2.4 GHz. The onboarding process fails silently if anything isn’t exactly right. No meaningful errors, no guidance, just looping screens that give you no clue what went wrong. Here’s what it took for me to get this device online: Repeated setup failures with no explanation No indication whether the issue was Wi-Fi, SSID, phone band, or device state I eventually had to dig out a pin from a sewing kit to press the recessed reset button and start from scratch I had to disable every non-2.4 GHz radio on my router so my phone would not connect to 5 GHz My phone and the router both had to be forced onto the exact same 2.4 GHz SSID Even then, the app got stuck again in the AP search loop before finally completing This is where the disclosure falls short. Saying “2.4 GHz only” does not adequately describe: How unforgiving the setup is How modern routers with combined SSIDs break the process How little feedback the app provides when things go wrong Once I finally got it connected, the experience was… meh. It works, but nothing about the functionality justifies how much effort it took to get there. What makes this especially ironic is that this is a communication device, yet Broadlink has done a remarkably poor job with communication: no actionable errors, no warnings about common failure modes, and no guidance for modern networks. For a product whose purpose is to communicate with other devices, that’s frustrating. Who should think twice before buying: Anyone with a modern mesh or band-steering router Anyone using a single SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Anyone who expects setup feedback beyond “try again” Anyone who doesn’t want to reconfigure their network for one device Bottom line: Broadlink was honest about the 2.4 GHz limitation, but honesty alone isn’t enough. The onboarding experience is fragile, opaque, and hostile to modern networking realities. This device may work once set up, but getting there requires far more patience than it should. Seriously though. this is from a company that makes communications devices and I had such higher hopes. :/ Meh.

Decent hardware buggy software/app
The hardware looks to be good but the app has a long way to go to make it user friendly. I got this to replace a universal remote for my Vizio TV and Yamaha Soundbar using IR, and also to control another device which uses RF. Overall the hardware works well as expected but it was extremely difficult to setup the app to work with my devices. The Vizio TV setup was okay using the search feature to match the brand, but it did not have all the functionality that my physical remote does. Additionally some of the buttons were incorrectly programmed. For example the number keys would send the wrong channel number e.g. pressing 4 would send #3 to the TV etc. So I had to use the learn mode to program the correct number keys. Many other standard functions were missing and I haven't found a way to "add" buttons to teach it new functions. The Yamaha Soundbar was not available through the brand search. They had receivers and amplifiers but no soundbars. I could select a Yamaha amplifier to get the power and volume working, but once again I could not program/add buttons for other features of the soundbar e.g. sub-woofer volume, input selection, or changing sound modes. The RF device had to be manually programmed and it was not too difficult, but I would have liked the option to customize buttons with an appropriate graphic or an option to import my own graphic. Google, Alexa, and Siri integration is pretty basic. For example, I can ask Google to turn on the TV and Soundbar, but unable to change channels or volume through voice command. Siri via voice does not work for me, but I am able to use Shortcuts to add buttons that initiate pre-programed functions in the app. All in all, it's able to handle the basic funtions I want but I would like more customization options in the app. I would say, if you like to tinker with gadgets and smart home devices, you may like the challenge, but I would not recommend this device for novice users who expect plug-and-play functionality from their devices.

Multifonctionnel
