50 bucks to lighten your load.
This is a good cooking set for backpacking. At a shade under half a pound it is absurdly light. It has a good width to height ratio. Transfers heat well, boil times are short with a whisperlite and a homemade alcohol stove. Titanium is thick enough to resist denting when treated poorly. There is enough room inside to store a whisperlite international plus 20oz fuel bottle plus a little extra space. Should be able to store *most* back country cooking systems inside. The frying pan lid fits on top of the pot perfectly, but there is absolutely no way to secure it. A rubber band, or piece of cord, or packing it under things will be needed to keep it from rattling around in an annoying manner.

Lightweight Versatile Pot/Pan Cookset
I bought this Snow Peak Trek 1400 Titanium Cookset in order to have a bit more versatile cooking system. I'd begun backpacking more with my girlfriend, and was cooking more food. We had started out cooking on a Stainless Steel 24oz cookset and quickly realized that we couldn't boil enough water for dinner and warm drinks, or even dessert at the same time. Pros: Lightweight ( 189 grams, 6.7 oz pot and pan weight only) Durable Safe to eat with (Titanium leeches VERY little into our foods, no non-stick coatings) Fits an 8oz Fuel Canister and Stove, plus accessories as pictured More versatile than just a pot! Used pan for a thirsty pup when backpacking. Cons: Some reviewers have mentioned problems with their pans "folding" under weight due to the way the hinge works. I've not experienced this, and have stressed the hinge substantially- I figured I'd mention it. I've not experienced a single real issue myself. Overall I'd highly recommend this Cookset. It's a great buy, and Titanium really lasts for the long haul. I love mine overall!

Snow Peak Trek 1400
Just Received my new Snow Peak Trek 1400. Great Pot set very light weight, made the purchase to go with my Bio-lite stove which fits nicely inside with finger room to spare. Obviously the lid will not encompass stove completely because of its height. (maybe another 1400 base would secure it nicely together if price is not an issue. Pot's easy to clean. Best for boiling water and preparing meals with high water content, otherwise it will burn if not monitored constantly. The Mesh carry bag given is to large to keep lid on the base. Pot's very noisy when transporting if not secured with additional strap, rubber band etc. Pots Big enough to boil enough water for three to four people. Would highly recommend it, if weight is always an issue.

does what it does, and well.
well built. good material. fits my fuel, stove, scraper, scour pad and a small bottle of soap inside with a little room to spare. comes with a mesh bag for storage. the lid is kind of loose when you're storing it, so i have to use a couple heavy rubber bands to keep it in place. the pot is big enough to cook rice and beans for 4, with room left to stir comfortably. lid will do scrambled eggs ok when used as a fry pan, but be ready when you put in on the heat cause it heats up...FAST. these aren't designed to be 5 star cookware...they're designed to hold up to the rigors of camp and the trail. of course some food is going to stick to the bottom from time to time depending on what type of heat source you're using, whether or not you have any cooking oil available, and how much culinary finesse you possess. Lid seems to heat up faster than the pot, but the pot seems to cook a little more evenly. boiled 3 cups of cold water in 3 minutes with a litemax burner. used it on several camping trips so far for food and beverage, and I have to say, great piece of gear.

Investment Camp Gear
I was really on the fence about buying this set. I've got a one year old and a two year old that my wife and I were taking camping in a two person ultralight tent. Is the expensive cookset worth it? I decided that even if we didn't need the weight savings (we're not hiking Everest here...) it would be a nice set for the girls to use for years to come. I've got a Titanium money clip that I've had for almost 10 years and it's seen some tough times and it's never let me down so I knew this cookset would be tough. I bought the $15 Amazon backpacking stove to go with it and it rocked! Even though we just used it do heat up formula water for the one year old, it was fun to use and well made. The large pot size means that the flame has a chance to spread and there's more contact area even when heating only 10 ounces of water (for a bottle) so it heats very fast with the small stove we used. We didn't really cook in it so I can't speak to that but our meal was freeze dried and would have been just boiling water anyhow so it would have worked just as well. We walked over nearby and bought hot dogs and french fries instead of the freeze dried meal or the soup...The cookset makes for a fantastic set of child's toys when camping and there was little concern of the girls breaking them. In the event of a zombie outbreak while we were camping I could rest assured that we could use them forever to live out of. A great buy!

Good product...difficult to clean!!
I've use this product just one time. Excelent quality and very light weight. It heats almost instantly (good for any alcohol stove enthusiast). I like the size of the pot and fry pan. The only bad thing about this cookset, it's not the price but the difficult to remove stains. Beacuse of the heat it can reach, the food sticks to the surface and blemish it and is very hard to clean it, I have to use degreaser (when I got back home) because a scraper did not work. I prefer Teflon coated cooksets than this. I only recommend this cookset if you don't mind the cleaning duty and you hike near a good source of water like a river or lake(don't forget to bring a good amount of detergent and degreaser). Otherwise, choose Teflon coated pots/fry pans.

convenient, with one proviso
The kettle is solid, convenient, easy to clean, and the lid doubling as a pan is a nice touch, so long as you remember to apply constant inward pressure to the little steel handle when you hold it. If you relax your grip it folds in half, spilling its contents.

Absolutely brilliant product
Simply titanium and well designed and made product. We've bought it after my wife's brother using the smaller model of this Snow Peak for over a year on his life-trip across South America. He is in fact using it just now. We are in fact using it more indoors than outdoors, as we find it quite useful to boil water in it, as it gets wormer faster than when using the regular pot. The handles (even though there is no apparent insulation) are getting hot only at the bottom and it actually takes one grip for it to cool down, so you may hold it in hand. Of course it depends on how big fire you use to put it on. It is very light - we actually though that the package came in empty, when we're received it. It is very easy to clean and has a scale engraved on the side, and it weights nothing. The only downside of this product is using the pan as lid, as it might get a bit wobbly to stay on top, especially when outdoors where the surface is not very flat and it might get windy. To remedy it make sure you align it so it stays on top of the pot handle - it kind of blocks it, so it doesn't slide off. I don't quite get the complains about no additional lid for the pot, so you may use the pot and the pan at the same time - well think how often you did such trick when being outdoors. I don't recall using two fires at the same time when being outside. We've ordered it via Amazon from Weg Store and even though it was shipped from Japan it came pretty quickly well packed... wrapped in Japanese newspapers :) Very robust product - well worth it's price.

Ottimo
