Best AM4 board for the money
Best motherboard I've ever had. Works very well, no issues and booted first try. At a time when PC hardware is expensive and hard to find, the AM4 set up is the best option for gaming and this motherboard will definitely buy some time until the next upgrade. Its VRMs will handle the best of the AM4 CPUs and have more than enough cooling to handle overclocking due to having over kill heatsinks. Great optical audio out for it being built in. Decent USB ports though it could use a couple more. Operating with a liquid cooled Ryzen 7 5800x, MSI RTX 3070, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, Samsung NVMe 980 M.2 SSD. CPU overclocked hitting 4.82Ghz, GPU overclocked, RAM overclocked to 3600. In a case with proper fan placement it never runs hot and runs most everything at high to ultra settings at 120+ FPS. I intentionally have my FPS capped at 120 (118) for cooling purposes and to not stress my gpu so that it lives longer but it hit 244 FPS when uncapped (on a 244Hz monitor).

Rock-solid motherboard for Ryzen. Fast, stable, and easy to work with
I’m using MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK with my Ryzen 7 5800XT, and it’s been absolutely flawless. It booted up right away with no issues, the BIOS is clean and easy to navigate, and all components like RAM, SSDs, GPU, and AIO cooler worked perfectly from day one. The VRM temperatures stay cool even under load, and the board handles overclocking without any instability. I’m running 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory, dual NVMe drives, and a Radeon RX 5700 XT. Everything runs smooth and stable. It has plenty of USB ports, strong build quality, and a great layout for cable management. The RGB lighting is subtle but adds a nice touch to the setup. Overall, one of the best-value B550 motherboards you can buy. It performs like a high-end X570 while staying affordable and reliable.

Wonderful replacement for my quirky previous board.
I bought this as a replacement for an ASRock X570 Steel Legend that I've had since they first launched back in the summer of 2019. As, it was gradually showing more signs of failure over the time that I had it in my system. First, the onboard audio stopped working. Which, I just switched over to using the audio interface that I had for recording. So, that didn't bother me TOO much. I also was noticing that games were starting to have more and more issues with micro-stutter. I did some tinkering and got it behaving a little better. But, that never fully went away. The final thing that prompted me to look for a replacement was I started having really bad lag issues while playing online games. Yes, legitimate lag. Not the "I missed my shot, the stupid server must be lagging!" type of lag. As, I'm very well aware of and openly recognize how bad I am at competitive games. This is "friend and I are in a car together, friend awkwardly crashes car into a building, I wonder why they did that, then the game suddenly snaps to us being on a completely different street and still moving" level of lag. Quite a frequent occurrence, at that. I tried a list troubleshooting steps. Driver updates for everything, lowering the games' settings, reinstalling the games, cleaning the operating system, reinstalling the operating system, adjusting settings and also resetting the router back to factory defaults, port forwarding, pestering the cable company about connection issues, different ethernet cables, etc. I figured seeing as the motherboard was already having other issues, perhaps it was drying out even further. So, I decided to start looking for replacement options. Which, being that the 7000 series processors had been out for a while, I knew that my options would be slimmer than before. At least for a NEW board. Also, pricing may not be ideal. But, reading a bunch of reviews and doing comparisons, this particular board sounded like it would be a solid choice without having to spend a lot more for the available higher end boards. I had mixed feelings about "stepping down" a notch to the B550 chipset. But, upon further consideration and reading, the performance difference was minimal. Plus, I didn't use enough of the extra features that X570 had over B550 to really be concerned about that. So, I went ahead and grabbed it. Yeah, it was a great decision to grab this board! Though there are still occasional lag quirks (which, is to be expected, honestly), there was a HUGE improvement in connection stability with games. Plus, games and the system overall feel notably smoother than before. Far less micro-stutter and things just feel more responsive, as a whole. Oh, and I have onboard sound back. Which, is cool too! But, yeah, I am VERY happy with this board! Everything about it seems to work great! And, I can't think of any major complaints. Maybe that the UEFI menu feels a little messy to navigate. But, that could just be a familiarity thing. Also, I don't use any of the "software suite" stuff that often comes with motherboards. That's just unnecessary bloat, to me. So, I can't comment on any of that stuff. I was worried that I was getting a step down from my previous board. But, that was not at all the case. A very solid choice for anyone that plays demanding games, does content creation, and/or software/game development.

Excellent VRMs for High-End CPUs, but Questionable 'New' Condition
The Good: I purchased this board specifically to handle my Ryzen 9 5900X, as I needed a motherboard with a robust power delivery solution. The B550 Tomahawk has absolutely delivered. My main goal was to lower my MOSFET temperatures, and the results are fantastic. Temps went from a concerning 80°C on my old board to a very stable 50°C with this one. It handles the 5900X without breaking a sweat. Beyond that, the layout is great and it has a sufficient number of fan and RGB headers for a clean build. The Not-So-Good: The reason for docking a star has nothing to do with the board's performance, but with the condition it arrived in. I paid for a new product. However, the sealed box was missing the user manual, the MSI case badge, the driver DVD, and all the other small cards that should be included. For a collector who likes to keep everything, this is a major disappointment. It strongly suggests that I was sent a previously returned item that was simply repackaged. Conclusion: The motherboard itself is 5-star worthy for its performance. However, be cautious about the seller/fulfillment, as receiving an incomplete package sold as "new" is not acceptable. Updated on July 17th: I suddenly found that the box content listed on msi website has latest update. It turns out that only sata cable and quick installation guide are provided. All others are no longer provided.

Good Features at a Great Price
Picked this board up as a replacement for a Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 which died on me and It's been a smooth transition which is refreshing since this is my first MSI board, I've only used Asus, Asrock & Gigabyte in the past. My 5600X worked immediately without requiring a BIOS update though I highly recommend downloading and flashing the latest BIOS update from MSI's website as soon as you complete your setup to ensure stability. It's a very simple process and for those who are new to bios flashing, just look up a video on youtube. Overall, this is a solid motherboard and I'm satisfied with my purchase. If you like the features it offers and don't mind spending a little extra, opt-in to getting the upgraded version with WiFi. Though your mileage may vary as we all have different specs, here are the pros and cons of this mobo based on my personal experience with it: Pros: Nice features for the price point (2.5G LAN, PCIe 4.0 support, .etc) Sleek design with heatsinks that will compliment the look of any system, Two M.2 slots with protective plating, that don't disable any SATA ports like my previous board, Plenty of SATA ports & fan headers, Easy-to-use BIOS compared to other brand setups Cons: Only 6 back-end USB ports (Not a big deal, but more would be nice without the need of a hub) The on-board LED is in a weird spot. While the light is visible in my third pic as a close-up, bigger GPUs may block it almost entirely. This can be switched off manually on the board itself though. Also, to customize the LED options you have to use the MSI Center program's Mystic Light feature. I would've preferred built-in RGB settings through the bios. Did not play nice with my Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB RAM, caused BSODs multiple times with XMP both on and off, and despite working flawlessly on my old board. Currently works fine with an old 16GB 3200mhz kit though.

very well built works great
my last pc i built for myself was a fx6300 on an old msi military board now 20 years old. cleaned it up gave it to a family member. yes it is still being used daily and so when i went to build my new pc it was a no brainer for me to go with msi again. this thing is heavy like a brick. came new no dents dings or cowboy boots. so yeah read about these "warning lights" going nutty ect. that concerned me and there is no documents that explains how they are to work. should they come on then go off ect. so i used a known bad hard drive. yup the light lit up and stayed on even though the drive was acting fine. it knew there was an issue. i used that drive till it died and yup the light never went out. so i put in a new m.2 and 2.5 ssd as well as two 2 tb hard drives. now the lights come on first the hard drive then the graphics then memory. then one at a time as it boots up then they go out. before the lights go out it has to see the whatever and make sure its there and ok then out they go like clock work. now could you get a board with an issue or maybe using old parts with unknown issues? of course that is what these lights are for and how i  they are to work. was i afraid to buy this? yes i was! would i suggest this board? after the use of this for a month bet your booty. this was the best i could do price wise so if you are in a tight spot building price wise and this fits the budget. get it! i watch voltages ect but i do not overclock never needed to. this board has been running great no magor voltage issues or fires lol used with a 3700x and 32 gigs 3600 ven. have seen where others could not get this ram to run at these speeds. read on one article that had like a cpl sentences saying to only install one ram stick as you set up and the rest after you after finished. the first time i used all ram and it didnt run them at these speeds so whatever the one stick thing does if anything would suggest trying that on a fresh install. as for me the second install that way worked... just why i have no idea. i play e sports and triple a games. this has not had one issue or made me scratch my head asking that age old question (ram thing aside)... now what the hell are you doing! LOL only thing new to me on this board is rgb and argb thing and right off the bat i made the mistake >>>WARNING<<< i bought a three pack of thermaltake rgb fans. was all the best buy had nearby. of course it needs the usb plug but my wifi needs it as well as my front panal connections. that lead to the purchase of "Motherboard Internal USB 2.0 Hub 9 pin USB Header Male 1 to 4" wich you guessed it needs the usb pins. just read how the signals are split on this thing. i placed the wifi on the mb. i set the rgb hub on one side then the font panal on the other side so signals are not sharing or splitting one side in half.

4 months in and its the best AM4 motherboard I've ever owned
Excellent Mobo. Great price. Im running this one with an RTX 3090, 96Gb of DDR4, a Ryzen 5 9800 with water cooling, and I can play any top tier game on full graphics settings with no problem. My GPU gets warm, but that's it. Frame rates are excellent. Also, I do VR gaming with no problems.
