Great sander, and highly recommended.
This is the best sander I've ever used. It's a Festool, so I'm not surprised. As with all of their tools, a bit pricey, but definitely worth it in my opinion. It removes stock quickly using more aggressive grits, and is nearly vibration free. The dust collection is excellent, with hardly anything at all escaping. Two really nice things compared to my other sanders: 1) it stops almost immediately when you turn it off. No sitting there waiting for it to spin down like my DeWalt or Porter Cable sanders. 2) When using a vac or dust collector on high, my other sanders tended to speed up beyond their normal speed because of the air flow. This could get the sander spinning really fast if you aren't careful. The Festool doesn't do this at all, no matter what the setting is on the dust collection.

Excellent sander
Excellent sander, great duct collection, very low vibration. This is a very high end sander.

Wow...it's really good.
Other than my dust collector I use with my Mafell track saw, this was my first Festool purchase. I bought this last fall and now have used it many hours on a new home I just finished building. The power, smooth start, ergonomics, low vibration....it's fantastic. I gave away the two other sanders I had previously which seemed pretty decent until using this. (I now also have the Festool RO150 which is a beast..) Dust extraction is superb. 95% of my sanding has been with Festool Granat Net, Mirka Abranet, or 3M net (I forget the name)...All of them work awesome with this. I did buy the hard sanding pad as well and use that most of the time. Very expensive sander but takes a lot of the annoyance out of the most annoying part of wood finishing.

Festool is $ for a reason...premium tool at a fair price
This sander is amazing, which it should be for the price. I replaced a battery orbital sander that was not doing a good job and the speed relied too much on battery level. The Festool sander is balanced, comfortable and the 6" diameter makes sanding more efficient. Wish I had bought it sooner.

Never thought I'd love sanding
Big jobs made easy! So my old big box yellow brand quarter sheet sander took me 3 days on and off to finish one side of 5ft black walnut, a wood hard as metal it seems. The old sander would constantly leave those pigtails that if have to hand sand out to prevent just making more. I was using 3 big box sand papers starting with 80grit. Now I have a huge 16ft slab of black walnut, no way am i going to sand for a month! Trying the Festool 150 5mm stroke with 80 grit... wow! I have to look real close to even notice any machine marks anywhere. It helped take out uneven cuts a mm tall, flattened those platforms out. Did one side one day the next the other... literally 64 square feet of hard wood sanding and it's sooooo smooth. It's 80 grit sanding feels like big boxes finishing paper. Did 120 next... covered 16 foot pencil marks in less than half an hour. Going quick now as there are not huge saw mark ledges to flatten. Mind there is a shadow from a toolbox in my pic but 16 foot hard wood... I don't feel I could of and sure would not have tried this with any other sander. Paired with the festool 26 vacuum lol... never thought I'd love sanding.

Worth Every Penny - Sanding Pad Quality Not So Much
This was a game changer for me along with the CT Midi. The overall experience of sanding improved immensely. Yes it's expensive, but if you do a lot of sanding your hands will thank you, and you will get the job done faster. I use the 3M sandpaper exclusively and those are also worth their weight in gold. The only complaint I have is the Sanding Pad Velcro. Expect to have to replace it within a few months of use. The Sanding Pad on my Dewault's lasted years, not this one. The pad is in amazing shape, but the Velcro just stops holding on to the sandpaper disk, regardless of brand. They sell a protection pad that goes between the sanding pad and sanding disk, that I just received after ordering replacement Sanding Pads, so hopefully that will extend the life of the Sanding Pad. Overall, would never want to go back, a truly great performing tool other than the velcro issues.

Simply the best........
I had no idea.......... I used several 5 inch random orbital sanders purchased at the box stores for at or under $100.00. I thought this would be slightly better, but I had no idea that this would be BETTER ON A SCALE OF MAGNITUDES. The tool is phenomenal and of course the price tag keeps many people from having the opportunity to experience that. But I would also like to show appreciation for this particular seller. I ordered the product at 6 PM west coast time on a Wednesday. Amazon said the tool would arrive Friday. After I ordered I saw that it was coming from Ohio or Indiana or some other "Distant land." I knew there was no way I was going to see my new tool on Friday..... I was Wrong. The Sander showed up at my doorstep Friday afternoon. Oh by the way, Bigfoot is my neighbor. OK I may have exaggerated there is no Bigfoot, but I live in the sticks. The seller must have a seriously good relationship with FedEx to twist their arm into honoring the next day delivery to my locality. My hat is off to you guys!!!

Best sander in my shop....
Once again, it's hard to pay the Festool prices. And once again it is absolutely worth every penny of that price. Folks think a sander is a sander is a....... NOT TRUE! We spend a LOT of time sanding in our custom woodworks shop. I can't even guess how many of the yellow or blue tools we've worn out over the years, so I thought I'd try a Festool to see what all the hype is about --- Sanding is faster, easier on our hands, less dust to contend with (connected and works much better with dust collection). Only Festool sanders in our shop from here on.
