Nice inexpensive unit
Keep in mind I am reviewing this a day after receiving it in the mail. I took a chance on the night fox swift due to it's great price and the singular review on YouTube that seemed slightly like an ad. Here is what I think. This unit is dependent on an ir source (one is provided inside it), by that I mean I don't believe these can be low signature night vision using ambient light only. The picture quality within it's range was great considering the cost. Speaking of it's effective range I was able to see clearly within 70 paces (as advertised), I feel this could be extended with an additional ir source. The controls were easy to manipulate and the headband worked much better than I expected and the unit is extremely light. After some getting used to I was able to walk through fields checking cattle, play ball with my dog and even jog a few yards (bouncy and a bit laggy on the jog). The only cons that I noticed were as follows: 1. small screen with odd zoom and narrow field of vision means you will have to re-learn moving and will not have any depth perception and may have problems seeing it if you are far sighted 2. everything outside of ir range is not visible meaning if you are using it to check live stock you will probably need a strong ir source to reach in the field. In conclusion I feel like the nightfox swift is well worth the money and I am looking forward to using their product more.

Simple but great NVG
Let’s start off by getting this over with first. These ARE night vision goggles and no they are NOT high end. Okay, with that over with let’s break this down. Some people don’t realize that there are many different types of NVG’s out there. Unlike the classic image intensifier style these are digital night vision. The difference? Vacuum tubes are swapped for a low Lux camera. This makes it cheaper and easier to produce. Please understand that if you want the “classic” goggles expect to pay in the thousands vs the $200 I snagged these for. A few things on function, these are great for the price point. Only thing I wish was improved on would be a wider angle for the lenses. View is very limited with these and makes it slightly difficult to move in close quarters. Nevertheless these are still very comfortable to wear and work very well. No you are not going to see great detail at extreme distance but are still a great device. Also note that with this price point the two IR lights are slightly in the visible spectrum. So in operation you will see two glowing red eyes piercing the dark abyss. This may be a deal breaker for some, but I’m okay with striking fear into the hearts of my enemies as a shadowy demon emerges from the dark. In all I am extremely happy with this buy, and despite some minor flaws these will be a great addition to my airsoft gear, and great for general entertainment on a long work night.

This is a good product for the price.
It is important to know that this more of a TOY for someone who wants to get the feet wet with night vision. It is on par with standard Gen 1 night vision. It doesn't offer ANY low light amplification. It DOES however offer digital IR detection. The viewing port leaves a LOT to be desired. (poor screen quality) If you are an older person, I wouldn't buy them as they are hard to view with "Old soldier eyes". And they don't have a lot of room for your "spectacles/glasses". HOWEVER, It does the job of night vision Binoculars pretty well. The view distance is decent considering the technology level that they are at. I consider the purchase a WIN at the low price point. I bought these just to check the quality of cheap night vision. They now belong to my 7 year old daughter. They aren't replacing my Gen 3s. Hope this review helps. To the manufacturer, I would recommend some attention on the screen and the viewing port, as they are not glasses friendly.

So I used this for Airsoft. Here's what happened..
So firstly the night vision works great! You get 7 levels of brightness and a wheel under it to help focus on targets. The battery life is okay too! The head strap is rough. The weight of the goggles hurts my forehead. Okay now how it operated with airsoft games. To put it shortly. Dont. 1) The red IR lights arent suddle. You'll be spotted 100s of feet away even at the lowest setting. 2) its zoomed in already so moving around is next to impossible. You'll trip and fall over everything. 3) Using it with a rifle isnt ideal. Once you hold up the rifle and the goggles catch view, it blinds you badly. Even using a pistol its challenging to stay on target. You may get one shot off before you get vaporized. Overall it's actually a decent pair of goggles if you're stationary. Doing recon on a radio far far away. But in the field itself I dont reccomend. You'll be seen before you see anyone.

Great for my use
I read reviews extensively before purchasing and wanted to make sure that I knew the pros and cons. My use to to scan at night while hunting wild hogs. I can then flip the goggles up and use my thermal rifle scope. With that said, they are great. The range is about 75 to 100 yards. But again I am only spending $150 so that is decent for the price. I like the eye cups that limit my peripheral and it make transitioning between goggles and rifle scope easy. I am using them with an external battery that lasts longer than the internal, so battery life was not really tested. I agree with the other reviews, you would not want to walk around with then in place or drive an ATV. But that was not my use case. I like them for the price and my application. I was not expecting mil-spec or Gen 4 quality.

Shockingly good! But buy the helmet mount!
I’ve used the PVS14 before, which retails for about $2500 new. While this product is definitely not that, it is shockingly good night vision for less than 1/10th the price. Getting into NVGs is extremely expensive. After a ballistic helmet, ear pro, lights and a good pair of binos, you’re looking at close to the cost of a new vehicle. While I intend to get the real deal in the future I wanted something to practice on until then. The brightness, field of view, battery life, recording options and multiple IR settings make this a great practice tool. It will pick up an IR laser or even a red dot off your rifle, and it’s super easy to use. It may not look as cool as the binos but it definitely works and works well. If you’re attaching this to a helmet, I would definitely buy the Wilcox quick release mount and the adapter for these from the nightfox website. They don’t seem to have it on Amazon.

Best night vision I've ever used!
I will say, this is the best night vision to me only because I've never owned night vision. The goggles are rugged, durable, and easy to use. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who is just getting into tacticool gear but isn't willing to spend thousands of dollars to see at night. However that's not to say it's without its problems, here is a list of some pros and cons: Pros: -Cheap, cheap is good -It's durable and sturdy (the NOD itself) -It's simple for beginners -Pretty long battery life when off (mine has held a full charge for about a week) Cons: -The headband mount it comes with is quite bad and uncomfortable to wear, and the plastic mounting plate is of questionable quality -the rubber eye piece can be hard to deal with if you have the wrong head or helmet shape -the screen glows pretty bright and the two IR illuminators glow red, making you pretty visible -the IR illuminators have a pretty limited range That was the end of my review, what's next is the modifications I made in order to make the device usable: I don't have the money for a ballistic helmet, nor do I want to downgrade protection to get a bump helmet. That is why I put the device on my M1 Steel Pot helmet. I simply extended the head-strap to fit the M1 (it was just barely too small) and secured it on with camo duct tape. It mounted sturdy enough, however the rubber eye piece would fold down and block my vision whenever I tried to move the device over my eyes. The rubber also blocked my peripheral vision, so I was tripping like the idiot I am. The seller was nice enough to tell me just to unscrew the 6 screws holding the goggles together and take the rubber out. I removed secured the glass plate that rests in the rubber guard back to the goggles with gorilla tape and a layer of more camo duct tape over it. Now the only downside to this modification is that, the durability may go down a bit when you replace components with tape, and the light from the screen is more visible in the night, and your face/eyes are pretty lit up. I don't see the eyes lit up as a totally bad thing, since the IR illuminator already gave off a visible red light. From this modification, you get your peripheral vision back, and can mount it on pretty much any helmet with enough tape!

Product Was of Quality but Lacked in Usability.
I liked these very much. I got them for walking through woods in complete darkness. Although I could see very well, the problem was that the least zoomed in setting was still zoomed in just a bit so it was very wonky trying to walk with them. I could if absolutely need be, but opted to use them in intervals instead of the entire walk. I would get to a certain point and put them on to survey. I hated to send them back, but I need a device I am able to walk well with. A solid product though!
