does it fit blue jean belt loops?

The belt itself is 2" wide and will fit most jeans. However, the way it is constructed, the buckle and stay are huge and won't fit through the belt loops. For the price, since this is cheap, I removed the buckle and stay. I put hook and loop velcro on. Now it fits into my jeans no problem.

Is the belt black like the picture shows or tan/grey like the description states?
