Easily the best pen I have so far
Easily the best pen I have so far. It's between fine and bold, for me I'm learning to enjoy the line since I'm used to a finer line. I love the style and color scheme, it was one of the main reasons that I bought it and that it was all metal made it better. I did have a bit of an issue that the cap seemed to be able to be removed a bit too easily. While that is still true in the sense that you shouldn't be carrying it in pockets or throwing it in a bag, after some extended use I realized that there's a bit of a suction aspect to it, that it settles in before the click. Odd as it sounds, it's an enjoyable feeling of using something that's cooler than the usual boring hard click on and off. Removing the cap actually takes more effort (for lack of a better word) than I earlier thought, but it's still feeling like it could easily be removed by accident. It definitely helps that the box it comes with is the nicest one that's been included so far. Very solid with a strong hinge, I carry it in my pocket when I bring it with me to work. Lift the panel and it comes with warranty information and two pre-filled cartridges. The writing itself is very smooth, the black nib with the overall aesthetic of the pen truly adds to the writing experience. It is NOT flexible as advertised, which I'm actually glad for because flexibility isn't that much of a big deal for me, but it should still be known. The reservoir is a twisting plunger type, with a clear plastic bead as the tension breaker. The moving part is basically a circle with a sliver on either side cut out, I'm fairly lukewarm to this. It's not necessarily bad, but since the plastic is so smooth it can be hard to get friction on it at times. It works well enough, but a hexagon shape may have been better and still keeping with the aesthetic theme. The weight is good for a metal pen, it is a bit heavy for smaller hands but it's not overly cumbersome unless you post the cap.

Excellent pen that looks--and writes--MUCH more expensive than it is
I LOVE this pen. I've owned two Monteverdes previously, both Invincias, one with a medium nib, one with a 1.1 mm stub. Both are scratchy, toothy, practically unusable. I swapped out the medium for a Goulet medium and it works just fine. But THIS pen, with a Monteverde broad nib ... well, all I can say is either I got two defective nibs previously, or Monteverde did some work with its parent company (Yafa, I believe) to improve the smoothness and inkflow of its nibs. Because this nib is a dream to write with; it lays down a wonderfully smooth, wet, broad line of ink. I have it inked currently with Robert Oster Tranquility, but have a bottle of iroshizuku Fuyu-Syogun on the way that will be its next feeding. The pen comes with a piston converter, which ain't bad at this price point. The aesthetics of the pen are fantastic--the gunmetal and gray is an excellent combination, very pleasing to the eye. The cap starts square and tapers to a rounded shape, and the barrel is entirely round, which makes for a visually interesting combination. The clip is spring loaded in the top of the cap, and the cap posts securely enough. The pen is very well balanced, and overall the pen has a good heft due to its metal construction. The grip is metal, but has a step at the end that keeps your fingers from sliding off and getting ink-stained. I can't speak for the medium and fine nibs and the stubs, but if you like a broad nib, you can't go wrong with this pen. It's beautiful, writes well, and is an overall great value.

Avoid omniflex nib
Not impressed at all. I followed multiple videos thinking I did something wrong but the nib refused to write properly. I was handling it as if I was holding a feather, gentle as a breeze. The nib would always spread too far apart causing the ink to break into two separate lines and then refuse to flow. When it finally did flow it would only do so for a word or two max. I tried slowing down, this made it stop midway through a word. I changed my grip, used my other hand, even upside down which actually worked like a normal pen more reliably. With this upside down method I lost the main feature I paid for which was the line variation so whats the point? Eventually I started to see if maybe I wasn't applying enough pressure. This led to the nib bending so far back that it became utterly useless. Trying to bend it back didn't work so now I have a broken pen. Waste of $40. Watching videos of people apply more pressure than I did with the same pen and getting flawless lines is just completely infuriating. I was using Sailor Blue Ink in case someone tries to say I was using a bad ink.

Great pen for a great price
Really well made and handsome fountain pen. The black nib is perfect with the gun metal body. I prefer to use the pen with the cap unposted as it's a bit back heavy with the cap on. Although the supplied nib 'M' was nice, I ended up replacing it with a 1.1m stub nib. That's another nice feature of this pen--Monteverde supplies nicely priced nibs that are easily swapped. It would have been nice to buy the pen already with a stub nib as an option here on amazon. This pen is an amazing value for the money. I'm glad I bought it. I've been writing a lot with this pen and the stub nib.

Smooth but leaky
I purchased the fine nib. It writes really well. It's smooth, not scratchy. It's a bit on the heavy side but I don't mind the weight. However, the first pen they sent didn't write at all (ink wasn't going through to the nib) and this second one leaks like crazy. I've tried following various tips I found online to prevent leakage but nothing works. I still use it on occasion because it's a nice pen, despite the stained fingers.

Great Pen, after Fixing Feed Issues
After buying over 18 pens from Amazon, this is the first pen that wouldn't write after I inked it up. Using the ink converter, I force fed ink to the nib to the point where it was ready to drip off the nib. I was able to write almost two *letters* before the nib went dry. That's not normal. Short Version: Clean the feed then soak the nib/feed in hot water with dish detergent for at least half an hour. There is some kind of oil or grease on the feed; I cleaned it with a new toothbrush, soaked it in soapy water for a while, and that solved the problem. Long Version: The Good: Writes a thicker line than my Pilot Metropolitan 1.0mm stub. Horizontal lines are just as thin. Good looks. Gunmetal grey is polished, red accents are a dark red not gaudy red, and the nib is large (I think its a #6). Product picture is accurate. Metal body feel substantial. It's not too heavy for me, but I'm a big guy (6'2") with big hands. Ink flows fast enough I don't have to worry about the nib running dry during fast writing. The Bad: Moderate feedback, most easily noticed on an upstroke or horizontal stroke. This lessens as you use the pen, but we're talking about months to years. The Pilot stub is smooth out of the box; the TWSBI Eco stub is also smooth out of the box. Not sure if this is just my pen or everyone's.. Feed ink flow problems plagued the pen. Resolved by a thorough cleaning and soaking in hot soapy water. Issue isn't isolated to me, others have had ink flow issues. Easy enough to fix the problem, but makes giving this as a gift a bad idea. Writing looks good, pen looks good, decent overall pen. Good ink flow, but the pen needs to be very well cleaned before inking it up. I'm not so fond of the feedback (scratchiness) but I plan on smoothing the nib myself (voids warranty). I didn't take away a star for the feedback because some people want the feedback. So while it's a drawback for me, it's a feature for others. What I'm most upset about is the lack of quality control. This is a GOOD pen, but not if it goes the customers with oil on the nib/feed. You should be able to pop in the supplied ink cartridge and the pen just works. I'm familiar enough with fountain pens that I chose to troubleshoot the issue instead of just returning the pen as defective. Keep in mind that I do a quick wash and rinse of every pen before I ink them up, I just didn't realize that this pen needed a more thorough washing and a soak to remove all the oil off the feed. It took me three hours of troubleshooting before I realized that feed was still oily. Once I realized the issue, out came the toothbrush, dish soap, and a glass of very warm water (not hot like coffee, more like hot bath water). Scrub, soak, rinse, and NOW it works perfectly. I can store the pen nib side up overnight, and the pen writes on the first try. The feed hold the ink and that's what lets you write. When pointed nib side down, the feed has a chance to "reload" from the reservoir. That's how fountain pens are supposed to work. That's how this pen works. It's a GOOD pen but there are definitely QC issues. I'll update this review if anything unusual happens. After two weeks, the feedback issues lessened or I got used to it. No issues with hard starts or the nib drying out after a day of storage. Feb 2021

Are You Kidding Me?
OK - first off, for $26 this pen is a total steal. Everyone else sells it for between $40 and $50. As to the pen itself...I love the medium nib which in my version is nice and wet with a more than adaquate feed for fast writing. Plus, it’s very, very smooth. And finally it’s a standard #6 so you can very easily swap it with other Monteverde nibs or even Goulet nibs in black or silver. The black nib is right for this one though. Overall the pen is solid feeling and well made. Nice and heavy. The cap posts securely. It takes standard international cartridges and comes with an OK converter. Buy this one! Get it home and flush it with a couple of drops of Dawn in a cup of warm water....then rinse well and dry. For this pen, either a good solid black like Aurora or do what I did and fill it with the king of dark red inks...Diamine Dragon Red. Killer! I have over 75 pens and this $25 Wonder is one of my well deserved favorite. If you won’t listen to me do a search on uTube for Matt Armstrong’s review at The Pen Habit. It’s a winner.

Bought this for a gift, and she loved it
That's pretty much all I know, she had me trying to fix an older one she had, and in the process I broke the box it was in, so I found this one that looked similar, I ordered the same sized medium point that hers was, and she was SUPER HAPPY with it! This one also came with ink, so at least for a while, she is good to go.
