Works brilliantly. Just the right amount of sensitivity to ensure live wires and outlets are correctly identified. In addition, the two selectable levels of sensitivity if needed. I read reviews of similar products and some were so overly sensitive that they were effectively useless. This is an easy to use and invaluable tool.

Really easy to use, had some kitchen recessed uplighters blow and didn't know if it was the electrics or the bulbs. Tested the fittings with the pen to show that they were live and so replaced the lighting unit and it all came on. Saved me a fortune on an electrician!

Detects mains and lower voltages as expected. The dual range is useful, especially for lower voltages. The on/off button is on the side which is good as my last voltage tester had the on/off button on the top and was always getting switch on by mistake. It is very sensative and fast to detect the presence of mains voltage. As usual you must test it on a known live circuit before use.

Detects voltage ok but overly sensitive on solid walls with mains wiring (indicates the whole wall as live! - not what my multimeter says). Happy for someone to explain why.

Up until recently I've only ever used a multimeter to test for mains voltage, but that's clearly not the safest option. This little device is much safer. The audible and visual indicator is very clear and gives you peace peace of mind to carry out your job. Very handy.

Great product I used it from since 2 yes working fine

Every product has it's share of bad reviews and it's common for people me included to search them out prior to making a purchase. I just want to be aware of any potential downsides or ineffectiveness in performance. In any case the price was very reasonable for the tester and I needed something straight forward and easy to use and understand. The directions are alright and after reading them twice I turned it on and tapped the button to put it in sensitive mode. Tested the outlet I was going to be working on and bars increased on the read out and light was flashing red and beeping, cool. Turned the breaker off and went back to test it again, no movement in the bars or flashing and beeping. Works well for what I need it for and we'll see how it does in the long haul.

This NCV tester is of good quality and it's very easy to differentiate between a live and a neutral wire. At a glance you can know if the wire is live and it also shows the voltage strength in the form of bars. If by chance you can't see the screen of the tester you can hear the beeps which it emits to know if a wire is live. It even has an inbuilt led light to work in the dark.
