Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist [OLD VERSION]

I am new to digital scrapbooking and recently purchased this product. It has been somewhat easy to use, but does take a little practice on getting used to it. There is a free update that is provided on the daisy trail website (in the user guide) that allows for a little more. My only negative is that the user guide is not as explanatory as it could be. After referencing how to use a tool, sometimes I still had difficulty. With that being said, I emailed customer support and within the day I always had a detailed answer to my question. Now that I have been using it a lot, it gets easier and easier. I have found many websites that have free downloads for kits, pages, etc. I have spent very little money and have made 35 pages (an entire family album for 2008) in less than a month. I would recommend this product.

I really can't say enough good things about this product - it's so worth the money. The developers at Serif are making upgrades all the time, so many of the issues from previous reviews are now taken care of. I never did any paper scrapping and don't have much familiarity with Photoshop or InDesign, but learning DSA was a breeze. The program has a great range of abilities, so more advanced designers can tweak with things to their heart's content and newbies will be able to get up and running in no time. There are also video tutorials on the DaisyTrail site to help you learn the more advanced stuff as you grow, and the community of scrappers there is just wonderfully supportive. DSA comes with a number of kits. You can also use the software to work with kits available for free download or purchase at various sites on the web. And from what I understand, a new free upgrade in August will make this even easier. Pages can be exported as jpegs or pdfs and are customizable to any size you'd like - perfect for doing greeting cards or 4x6 brag book pages. The only downside is it does often crash. There's an autosave component, but I still save my work quite frequently. And even so, I find it hard to imagine being happier with any other product.

Very disappointed in this software I received. Please make sure you keep the plastic wrap around it as it has a product key that you need to load the disk to your PC....this should of been in the box or disk case and not the wrapper. I haven't ever gotten this to load as you can't continue without the Key...so make sure you have one or return the product.

I was not happy with this purchase.....I had no access code, I had to call the company, that was a PAIN. It had no instruction sheet, no other information. AND you need instructions because it is a bit confusing....

Have just started using the Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist and I'm enjoying all of the things that it can do. They make it so easy to make a scrapbook without having to go out and purchase special paper, pens, glue, embelishments, materials, frames, backgrounds, etc. I love being able to change the colors of the embellishments. You can't do this in other scrapbook software for the price. They provide y9u with everything that you need to make a beautiful scrapbook and you I don't have to find storage space for all of the things I need to make a scrapbook. All you need is your computer. I did run into the glitch and a popup window opened saying that there was an update that would help this problem. They have additional digikits that you can purchase with more themes. It does come with some digikits provided when you purchase the software. Everything in the kit is matching so you don't have to worry about colors. They even provide letters that match the theme so that you can print titles or discription. You can also use fonts for printing as well. I used the software to make my checkbook cover and it came out beautiful! Bought the vinyl checkbook cover on ebay and used Digital Scrapbook to create the checkbook cover. I love this software! Also love the embellishment bows and flowers. I really like bows and flowers and this software has a lot of them.

I bought this software because I had a ton of digital pictures laying about, and wanted to make something nice to post online and let people see. The software is easy to use (basically it is drag, drop, and position), and you can buy new templates or get free ones from the Daisy trail website. The only thing that urked me was that when it was shipped to me, there was a label over the product keycode! Without that keycode, I could not use or register the product. But thankfully, I found my way around that by holding it up to the light and getting the last four digits. But beside that hassle, this is some great scrapbooking software for beginners, or those looking to make something nice of photos just laying around.

First of all, the product came without a product key. I had to return it and get a second that included the product key so that I could install it on my computer. This could be a problem only with items that were purchased at Amazon. I don't know, but it was frustrating to have to wait and resend. Secondly, this software is not a scrapbook product. It is a very basic photo editing software. It has no additional features than the software that comes free with your digital cameras. It's not worth the cost. I'd rather use PhotoShop Elements, which is much more user friendly. I am giving this product 1 star, but it doesn't even deserve that. This software is designed to sell additional kits. There is no use for this product unless you intend on purchasing the many scrapbook kits that Nova Development sells. The software came with 2 kits. I paid a discounted cost [...]! That's without additional printing costs! For those of you purchasing the retail price [...]! Unbelievable! Daisy is the website that you have to go to, to purchase more kits. Their kits aren't nearly as cute as Scrapbook Max or Digital Scrapbook Experts. The graphics clearly are graphics. In my scrapbook pages, I want them to print looking like scrapbook pages and not a graphic of a scrapbook page. This software should be a free download that comes when someone purchases a kit from their daisy website. Which by the way, when you go to the daisy website there is a free download of the basic version! It is blatantly obvious that this company knows nothing about scrapbooking and is simply a graphics company that thought it could get into the the scrapbooking craze. I consider myself very computer literate and do not find the tools user friendly. I sent an email to help to Nova Development for technical support. Of course, I received no response. This product did not make me happy as a scrapbooker. It left me feeling very ripped off!

I absolutely love this program. It allows you to do things that I wouldn't have dreamed of just a few years ago. I installed it on my old computer with Windows Vista. I then purchased a new computer with Windows 7. It works on both without any problems. I especially love the fact that Serif has many, many videos with instructions on different techniques that are easy to do. I have recommended it to all my friends. It is definately worth the money.
