how does the base running work

Depending on where your ball lands (single, double, etc.), you move the plastic runners accordingly (by hand). So that's a very mechanical aspect of the game; the fun part is in trying to get hits. We were introduced to this by our cousins, and we all love this game. My son has become particularly adept at pitch control, mixing up his pitches, and working the count.
