how many people can sit on it? does anyone know a weight limit?

The bench is only 50" long so it would seat two adults or three smaller kids. No weight limit is given but it built very sturdy. It is constructed out of real wood and screws Each leg has an angled brace screwed to it and the legs do not wobble. I would sit two grown adult men on there with no concerns. And as many kids that would want to climb on together.

Is this particle board or real wood?

From the weight of the pieces, I would say real wood. Did not act like particle board when assembling. I really like it.
