Best $15 I've ever spent
For 3 years I've been caring for my spouse, who has dementia. Turns out I've been doing most things wrong, which explains why it's so frustrating and draining. This author has been there and come through, again and again, and i am learning from her at a rapid rate. "You'll never win an argument with someone who has dementia," she points out. So simple, and so true! How much time have I wasted trying to persuade my spouse to see it my way. "Therapeutic lying" is okay; you are not manipulative, just practical. Trust your care team, or get help you can trust. It never occurred to me that I needed a care team ... but I do. This is not airy-fairy, feel-good-about-yourself self help, but practical information to put to use right now, this minute, complete with resource listings. Reading it, I've cried silent tears and sobbed with relief, and laughed out loud, and found new confidence that I can do this, I will do this. At whatever stage your loved one with dementia may be (or wherever you yourself may be), this book will become a daily dose of "get 'er done," and I'm grateful.

Amazing!!!
Just what I needed!!!! My grandmother was just diagnosed with vascular dementia, and I was at a loss as what to do. This book is very well written, easy read, yet packed with How To's and suggestions not only as to what to do but also what to say and not say. It's also very real, the author is very honest and realistic as to what can happen, everything I read was just what was happening, and the suggestions really work. Another thing that was really useful was the definitions at the begging of the book really helped me understand what dementia is and what it is not. I recommend this book to anyone who has no idea what to do when facing this new stage of their loved one's life. Dementia is really frustrating and confusing for all involved, this book helps deal with that and help the caregivers process their emotions and gain a positive perspective and avoid mistakes.

Great resource for caregivers!
I cannot recommend The Caregiver's Guide to Dementia enough! As a caregiver for my mother who was diagnosed with dementia, this book has been an absolute lifesaver. The practical advice and tips provided in the guide have helped me navigate through the challenges of caregiving, while also taking care of myself. The clear and concise language used in the book makes it easy to understand, even for those without a medical background. I am beyond grateful for this resource and would highly recommend it to anyone in a similar situation.
