Fifty challenging acrostic word puzzles in volume three of the Acrostica collection. Thought-provoking quotes with clues ranging from the classics to pop culture. Everything comes together in these acclaimed confections for the mind. Review: Interesting, challenging, and learn-ful - I'm on my third book in this series and have just ordered my fourth. These are intelligent, sometimes very challenging double acrostics. Even the amusing quotes are thought-provoking. I learn something from each one. They are oriented vertically on the page instead of horizontally, as most others are. It's a little off-putting at first, but after a while, I grew to appreciate the design because it's much easier to find the square in a narrow grid than in a very wide one. The only thing I'd change is that I'd give them a spiral or comb binding rather than a bound one, so the book would lie flat. A spiral would allow the front to double behind the back, providing a firmer surface when I'm working on my lap. I plan to work the entire series. Review: Happy, happy! - Love the Acrostica series...it seems to get more and more difficult to find new Acrostic puzzles, even through desertcart. I do find it inconvenient to fold back pages which become bulky, and not as easy to use as the spiral bound puzzle books!

I love this series of acrostics. The puzzles are challenging and the excerpts thought-provoking. Well done.

Third-tier series
I would put this below the level of Middleton (advanced) and NY Times (intermediate) in terms of quality. The puzzles tend to be unchallenging for acrostic lovers who have been doing it for a while. When the puzzles are difficult, it is usually because of excessively obscure words (if words at all), answers which are forced in just to make the quote work. It is kind of sloppy and a bit like cheating. Sometimes the quote just won't work as an acrostic. Good puzzle makers move on to the next one. Finally, for the most part, the quotes are uninteresting and at times banal. Thereโs not much of a payoff at the end.

Terrible, Answer page did not agree with numbers assigned ...
Terrible, Answer page did not agree with numbers assigned to puzzles. Several letters were missing. Author chose obscure words which were ridiculous in their selection. Obviously no proof reading was done on this book or they would have seen their errors. Dont buy it.
