I only learned about this type of lentils last month & now are my favorite lentils. Good source of protein & fiber. This brand is good but this is my first time having black lentils so don't have any other brand to compare it to but these are very good.

Wow! We loved these black lentils. I soaked them over night and cooked the next day. Excellent texture and taste. I used in a Spicy Lentil Salad and they held up very well. They were clean when I rinsed them, no dirt or debris was in the lentils. Just a note, after soaking and rinsing them, they were definitely more brown than black. Great quality and I will certainly be buying these again.

Very good quality. Stove top boil for 20-25mins (from cold water) is all it takes to get soft and tender. No need to use a pressure cooker. It tasted good as a puree as well.

For dishes that call for them, worth it

Prepared these for a nutrition bowl salad and they looked and tasted great. This type of lentil holds together really well (no mush or skins falling off) when cooked according to directions. I generally toss cooked lentils in a bit of butter, agave (or honey or yacon syrup) and a light sprinkle of curry powder. Family loves them. Black lentils are rare and thus the higher price. The package is resealable, has clear instructions with a recipe suggestion. The lentils were clean and no debris. Will buy again.
