In 1952, astrophysicist Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen) and Air Force officer Capt. Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey) are tasked by the U.S. government with conducting secret investigations into UFO sightings and other strange occurrences. Will they be able to explain the often unexplainable, or will Hynek and Quinn be pulled into a dangerous world of conspiracies and cover-ups? Based on the cases of the real-life Project Blue Book, this History series debuted in 2019, and also stars Laura Mennell, Michael Harney, Ksenia Solo, and Neal McDonough.10 episodes on 2 discs. 7 1/3 hrs. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Review: Outstanding show - It's a great show. Aside from entering I learned a few things and that is always good. Review: Great scripts, acting, and period research (Spoiler Alert) - Did not know anything about this show until I saw a trailer for season 2. What a pleasant and refreshing series so far. Growing up during this era and currently living in Southern NV, I really appreciated the surprises, both the subtle and extreme nuances of the script writers. They appear to have done their historical homework and have left nothing out regarding the fear and hysteria during this time period (1950's). The scenes brought back memories of drop and cover drills in school , threat of nuclear war, backyard bomb shelters, Soviet spies in the US, Roswell (we were there in the 80's), the DC lights, US government mind control testing of military troops, Hanger 18 and Area 51 (been to Wright Patterson, no official H18, and A51 was known as Groom Lake), with cultural references science fiction movies of alien invasions (communists) and to the Men in Black and alien autopsies. The list goes on and on. However and most importantly, love the old cars and towns. Hope that the quality of this series continues and that the ratings are high enough for the History channel to keep this around for awhile.

One of the best shows on TV, yet now it's cancelled
I've got to say this show has potential. it was a deeply written show, it kept you wanting more. I really loved the direction the show was going and it felt good to see it progress along nice with the Captain and the doctor. But now the show, as of this writing, is cancelled? I'm beyond pissed off now that the show was cancelled, I've lost faith in the history channel now. I thought they made shows that had meaning and could go the long haul; but now I just see they are like ever other TV network and I'm canceling my cable TV subscription now, what's the point of TV show if TV netwoek kill off shows. If a TV network is not fiscally able to sustain a show til it's end, don't even make the show. Once you have people watching it and it's good, see it thru. Don't leave people on a cliffhanger, ***SPOILERS***, like now with the Captain, where did he go? - did he find them? - what was in that mountain? Shame on you History channel....

A fun watch
Weather, you believe, or not this is a great watch. Well done, I wish there was a season 3, or movie with this cast

Let's see them aliens
Is this the most realistic reenactment of events? No. Does the series take major liberties in presenting real events? Yes. Is this series massively entertaining? Heck Ya! In order to fully appreciate this show you must see it as a scify series and not a documentary. It's a wildly thrilling, adventurous and at times a spooky show about alien encounters. Yes, many of the events are "based on real life" but there are clear fiction mixed in for entertainment purposes. However, I cannot express more how great this series is. It keeps you at the edge of your seat every episode and the acting is amazing. Every week I would look forward to catching a new episode when It came out on Amazon. Be assured this series was well worth what I paid for the season and when season 3 comes out be assured I will drop money on it faster than those aliens dropped down in Roswell.

A little bit X-Files, a little bit of history
If you like Science Fiction but have an interest in UFO's and things the Government might do regarding them, you might like this show. If you like historical dramatic portrayals coupled with a bit of espionage, you might like this show. To be honest, it's a little slow moving and having gotten through Season 1 and 8 episodes of Season 2, there's a bit of a slow down. It's like the X-Files in the way that they seem to uncover things but never really bring in a big win, every story is left open ended and their search continues. Not a bad show, but if you are in it for a quick win, you may find it lacking.

An OUTSTANDING modern X-Files...
But unlike X-Files, it dealt exclusively with UFOs. I looked on-line for reasons it was cancelled and it wasn't due to bad ratings or poor quality. The quality of the cinematography, acting, characters, and stories were all excellent for BOTH seasons. One on-line reviewer was also wondering why it was cancelled and had to conclude, as I have, that it was yet another casualty of COVID which must have made continued production too difficult. This series was filmed in Vancouver, Canada and the third season would have been filmed between July and November of 2020 going by the filming dates for 2019.

Ok good for the money
I enjoyed it. I’ve seen them all. It was good. Don’t know if I pay for it again but it’s worth a dollar or two.
