These work great for drip line breaks. I like them better than the all black ones as they are easier to spot.

Design defect - It doesn't hold hose tight. It easily disconnect with any slight angle or any water pressure.

Beware. Most of these connectors are actually for drip tape which has a very thin wall. This one worked on my 5/8 inch Rainbird tubing. I had to put the tubing in hot water for 30 sec to get it on the black barbed fitting. Screwing the green cap out into the lock position was hard. I believe softening the tube with hot water helped and it barely fit. It seems tight and solid. I'm sorry that I can test it in use since it's winter with below freezing temperatures .

Simple to use and it gives you a positive seal on the tubing. I have purchased this item three times now and am happy with it. One complaint is that the nuts can be a little difficult to tighten by hand. It would be better if the nuts had wings on them allowing for more tightening pressure by hand. I like these better than the push on couplers because while pushing the coupling onto the tubing, it is easy to kink it, and that precipitates a future leak!

Very good price for these connectors. They appear to be well made. We will see. Easy installation, right fit and it works for now with no leaks.

I bought these as one of the YouTube videos I watched on an installing drip irrigation system used locking couplings. Previously, I had used compression drip irrigation couplings to repair leaks in the 5/8" drip emitter poly tubing, but repairing a leak required only installing one coupling. When it was time to replace the entire existing irrigation system, I found that while I could connect the one compression coupling for a leak, I did not have the strength, or patience, to do this for the many connections needed for the whole system. Locking couplings for 5/8" poly tubing were not available at the local hardware stores in my area. Amazon to the rescue! I was amazed at the price, so I read a mix of the ratings and felt the issues in the lower star ratings arose because the poly tube was not pushed on fully before locking with the screw section. Later in the day, when I was getting tired, I did need to soak the tube end in hot water to allow me to push the tubing in so it was in far enough. Please know, I am over 70, so factor that in. I should also mention that later in the day, there were times when I did not properly screw the lock in properly - it was at an angle. I tested the system when I realized I did this, to see if it mattered and, no surprise, it did. After that I paid attention to ensure that I was screwing the lock in straight. No leaks, or pop offs when they were screwed in straight. As I am a DIYer and not concerned with completing the job in one day or weekend, and didn't want to have any of my existing plants removed, I am replacing the system in sections so that my entire system can still water all the landscape until I am able to work on the installation again. My system is about 1/3 complete. Before I work on the system again, I will check the connections on the newly installed tubing to ensure that they stood up to repeated usage during the week. At this point, I believe they will hold, but will update this review if they don't. 9/3/25 edit: Some of the Hotop couplers did not hold. There are some that are still holding, but it seems every 2 weeks, or so, another one fails. It could be the reason they are failing is due to the extreme heat we have been having in Roseville, CA this year. I dug the tubing and Hotop couplers into the ground whenever possible, but because of the placing of the main PCV pipe line, much of the tubing could not be buried completely. The partially-buried tubing expands in the intense heat and rises out of the ground. I believe that rising puts a strain on the line and, after repeated occurrences, pulls the tubing out of the Hotop coupler causing a leak, in spite of being installed correctly. You can see in the attached picture, the barb on the Hotop coupler is about the same size of the second barb on a RainDrip 5/8" barbed connector. The Hotop coupler screw top does not fit over the little barb, it buts against it, so the barb is at the mouth of the tubing. I have lowered my rating to reflect that I believe the Hotop coupler has a problem in intense heat.
