LET'S GET OUT OF THIS COUNTRY

"Let's Get Out of This Country" is a great album from Camera Obscura. I already purchased this album previously on iTunes, however, playing an album on vinyl is a whole different (and in my opinion better) way of listening. The songs are so catchy and sweet and put me in a great mood.Here are a few of my favorite tracks from this album:Track number 1 is "Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken," which is a cute song and a great way to start off an album.Track number 5 is "False Contender," which is a slower song but extremely catchy. Once I listen to this, I can't get it out of my head for the rest of the day.Track number 8 is "If Looks Could Kill," which never fails to make me dance, no matter what mood I am in.I would recommend this album to any Camera Obscura fan or anyone who likes pretty music that puts you in a nice mellow mood.

Reminds me of back when I was in London in '67, all Carnaby Street color and Lulu and groovy pop. But I was not in London then. I was in MIchigan listening to Mom play Glen Campbell records. But this record takes me back to a 60's Engand that never was. Which is pretty good for an indie band from Glasgow.

Camera Obscura is currently my favorite indie-rock group featuring a female lead vocalist, and some of their best songs are on this album. If you're looking for a whole album of theirs, this is probably the one to buy. My favorite tracks are "If Looks Could Kill" and "Tears for Affairs," but there are other standouts, and the songwriting quality is pretty consistent throughout.As with a lot of modern indie-pop groups, I have a hard time describing the style. They are from Scotland, and I hear a variety of European and American influences in these songs. It's all easygoing and melodic, with recurring lyrical themes, often dealing with failed relationships. Much of it is melancholy, but at the same time, breezy, so it never gets too depressing. "Cathartic" is probably a good way to describe it. The instrumentation is rich and the production is commendable. A sample listen will probably say more than I could about the style.

I first heard this band on KEXP's live music podcast and I was blown away. I listened to it three times in a row, bought the album, and then listened to the live performance again. The sound is very interesting, it seems like it could have been recorded in the 60s. My brother says that it sounds like church music.The lead singers voice has an irresistible cracking sound. I don't know any better way to put it. It's very very beautiful. And she has a Scottish accent that definitely comes out in the singing, and that makes everything even better.While all of the songs are great, "Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken", "Tears For Affairs", and "The False Contender" are my favorite. They make me smile and make me thankful that I live in a world with such beautiful music.

The first two Camera Obscura albums were very good. The band's third effort, LET'S GET OUT OF THIS COUNTRY is simply great. It was produced in Sweden by Jari Haapalainen (who also brings out the best in The Concretes). People call this sound "twee pop." Depending on your perspective, that term may or may not make this album sound appetizing. Just listen. You'll be charmed.Standout tracks: "Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken," "Tears for Affairs," "Dory Previn," "Lets Get Out of this Country," "The False Contender," and "Razzle Dazzle Rose."

I love this album. If you love Camera Obscura, you MUST have this album!

Great band.

Love this album. You gotta listen the entirety. Very relaxing. I occasionally play it while I'm cleaning up at home, not that's it's just background music, but it's good to listen to entirely.

For lovers of Belle and Sebastian, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions and jolly things like that.

I came late to the band - this was the first Camera Obscura album I'd heard. Now I'm buying the back catalogue.A terrific mix of apparently light-hearted tunes and melancholy, reflective lyrics. All beautifully played and sung. It sounds like a distant relation to early St.Etienne at times, and that's high praise.Most importantly, it still sounds good after being played to death for weeks. This album is one of those that I will still be playing in many years time.

I love the whole vibe from this album, great atmosphere and one I play again and again

Got into this band a bit late and started with the latest album and backtracked to this.As I have found with this band you have to allow a little time for these songs to permuate your brain but when they do.....I once thoght that Tracyanne Campbell was the best female songwriter in Scotland and now,having listened to all the previous albums, I realise I was wrong.She is the best songwriter,male or female,in Britain.I have no hesitation in placing this in my best top twenty albums of all time.Borders on perfect.
