Rugged and/or dressy
First things first, as stated by nearly everyone else, change out bracelet for a band. Just like the “MACV SOG” it’s modeled after, this watch performs amazingly as a rugged field watch, but dresses up nice for formal wear as well. Recently purchased this with a leather band, wore it with a suit to a wedding, and aesthetic was perfect. No complaints on function or movements on this watch. Accuracy seems to be there with little to no change from day to day. Lum works as designed. Comfortable size, not too small, not too big. All in all, great watch, favorite one I now own.

Great everyday wear watch
I love the clean, simple, look of this watch. The fully numbered dial makes it easy to check time at a glance, and thanks to the cheerful green glow of Seiko's Lumibrite, it's just as easy to read in the dark. No hacking or hand winding with the 7S26 movement, but plenty accurate and reliable if worn daily. 30 meter water resistance rules out swimming/diving but it's more than adequate protection against sweat, rain, or the occasional dunking that an everyday watch could be exposed to. As for the bracelet, I see folks removing it in favor of leather bands. To each their own, leather bands are comfortable and stylish. That said, there's nothing wrong with the factory bracelet once you resize it. More importantly, the stainless steel bracelet can hold up to working outdoors in the heat of summer without very quickly looking and smelling like the dog's chew toy. All in all an outstanding everyday watch that should give years of service at an affordable price. Nothing not to like with this one.

Good value on a classic design
It is a good dependable watch. I like that plain classic look and numbers rather than indices. day/date windows are easy to read. It keeps time well has only gained or lost 5-10 seconds per week. Have worn it everyday since I bought it. I changed the wrist band so I can not review that. It has been wet from dunkings in dish water, rained on while on bike, has not shown any signs of moisture inside. The cristal has no scratches on it even though it has been banged on door frames. The lume is good and last longer than stated. August 2 2025 Six months update Have been wearing this watch almost exclusively when not at work. Fabulous watch after six months it has lost/gained 8 seconds and stayed in that margin of area since I put on. The watch was accidently along with its owner submerged in water upto 6' deep when I was out on a hike and the ledge I was traversing gave out and I slid/fell into a small river, that was in June. Took it to the horologist to have it looked at and it did not leak at all. Took these pics today. Will update as needed.

I'm a collector and this watch is legit!
Ive been a watch enthusiast for a long time and it's kind of funny to me that I'm just buying my first Seiko 5 after all these years. I got this one because I love the dial design, which dates back to the same model worn by troops in Vietnam. It looks tough on a NATO or rubber strap, but dresses up nicely on leather. Honestly, it kind of gives me a vintage Rolex Explorer vibe. The fact that its only about $100 means I don't worry at all about banging it around, but I still know I'm wearing a quality automatic watch. The applied numerals look fantastic and have more powerful lume than any swiss watch I own. Seiko is king of lume. It does wear a little small at 37mm, but it's perfect on my wrist. Comfortable and unobstrusive. Like most Seikos, it looks and feels like a more expensive watch than is. I just got this and I can see it being my daily wearer for a long time to come. If you want vintage vibes in a watch that has a actual vintage history, this is a really solid choice. P.s. The bracelet it comes with is terrible. This watch is a strap monster and looks infinitely cooler when it's on a NATO or strap.

does not work - do not buy
Notice the name is misspelled. This "watch" is not authentic. The model number DOES NOT EXIST on the official website. It cost over one hundred and thirty dollars, worked only five months with constant readjusting, and then died. No product support, return impossible after two months. WARNING!!! do not buy!

Looks good, great value
This watch is a good value. I bought it in 2010 and only recently started wearing it daily after I swapped the bracelet for a comfortable Perlon strap. The things I like about is that it isn't too conspicuous but looks nice all the same. It isn't too big with a 38mm diameter case, the arabic numerals are very easy to read, and the partially recessed crown adds to the low profile. The lume is very good, easy to read in the middle of the night. The accuracy has been pretty good I think, if you wear the watch all day anyway. The accuracy does seem to depend on how much you wear it. I gained two minutes at some point since the last time I set it, but have been checking it daily and it has stayed those same two minutes ahead for three straight days now. I would say it is within a 10 seconds per 24 hour range.

Mine was probably a fluke, but it didn't work
Seiko usually makes a good quality product so I'm not really sure why when I got mine from this seller, it didn't work. To be honest, however, I probably would have returned it regardless. The dial looks nice but you really don't realize how small 37mm is until you see it on your wrist. By modern standards, it's too small.

Fantastic little watch
Fantastic little watch especially for the price. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, and it's not too big and not too small and very comfortable. Very readable and looks great. Also the lume looks awesome! The only downfall is that the strap that comes with it isn't great. Works really well on an 18 mm nato though! Well worth the price!

Compra maestra. Parece mentira calidad precio.

Have had this almost a year and it's been keeping perfect time so far. A very good price for a mechanical timepiece at £99.00, although at time of writing this review, I notice that it's gone up quite a bit! Strongly luminescent for plain legibility in the dark, with the lume delicately applied to the silvery chrome of the numbers and fingers of the watch with a very satisfying precision. The "sword" shape of the fingers is not exactly what I wanted, but you can't have everything. The silver against the black dial is a very pleasing and stark contrast which again increases legibility (important to me because my eyes are not so good close up without my glasses). The large size of the numerals is a big plus in that department. The crystal is pretty tough as it's still completely without chips or scratches despite a good few knocks over the months I've had it (worn every day and all day). The metal wrist band goes well with the watch and is a very good fit after adjustment. It will probably last as long as the watch. Not waterproof, and not sold as such, but it's not going to stop because of rain or washing your hands. Just don't go swimming with it on, or take it into the shower! I like the simplicity of the design and the size. It's not so big that you are always aware if it, but it's big enough to be perfectly readable. The day of the week and the day of the month display at a decent size but do take out the number 3 from the dial display. The automatic wind will keep the watch going overnight and most of the next day, if you leave it off your wrist.

Underrated Watch. Perfect size for smaller wrists. This field watch has an amazing history (Vietnam War). The lume is excellent and accuracy +/- 2 seconds per day. I love it prefer to wear it over my Rolex explorer.
