Appear Outdoor Smart Wall Light, 1-Pack, Black

I bought 3 of these and had them installed in about an hour. They go up easy and are simple to program. They look great. Love the fact that I can change the lighting to celebrate different times or events during the year.

Absolutely worth it if you can find them on sale. These are beam-casting lights for aesthetic, not intended to brighten your porch for usability. If the cheapest exterior dumb light you can buy for your property is $30, and these smart architectural Philips Hue brand lights (historically ‘overpriced’ but consistently reliable) are $90 more, it’s a no brainer. If you’re loyal to Philips you won’t be disappointed. The deep blues and other colors aren’t quite as rich as the lily XL, but difference isn’t as much as the first and second gen color A19, for example. Noticeable but only subtly. Still, these were a major upgrade from the stock lamps I’ve already replaced once on the 6 year old house. I’m betting I get 2-3 times the duration without fading/cracking/rusting with the Appear lights, if not more.

Love my hue lights. I have many other hue lights throughout the house. I have these on both sides of the garage. They are not as bright as I’d hoped, but they do the job. Would purchase again.

These are pretty cool. Bought them to fit on a newly built pavilion. They work great and the color changing features are really neat. Installation is the same as any other lighting fixture. One serious flaw with these, is the set screws are absolutely tiny which makes installation a bigger challenge than it should be. You will need a small screw driver to set them all the while trying to keep the fixture in place. Other than the set screw size, the fixture is nice but I would not buy them again because the bulbs can't be replaces so eventually these are going in the trash. In hindsight, I would opt for regular fixtures, then purchasing the regular HUE screw bulbs which can be replaced. Price would be about the same but at least I wouldn't have to throw away the entire fixture.

I purchased 4 of these to replace the uplights that my home builder had installed. They look great, the matte black metal casings are quite durable, and look very sleek and unassuming during the day, at night they cast a nice glow against the house. I can even animate the colors using the Hue app to make for seasonal lighting schemes. A few caveats: 1) These are not lights you just plug in and use. You will need to install them to existing wiring boxes, or have an electrician/contractor install wiring boxes for you. if you DO opt to DIY, be sure and kill the power at the breaker while you're working, just to be sure you don't hurt yourself. 2) While the lights themselves are very weatherproof (they've stood up to a couple of years of Texas storms, now), you do need to apply silicone caulk around the mounting base to keep rain from getting into the electrical box they're mounted to. This also keeps insects from using the electrical box as a nesting spot. Be generous with the caulking, and only leave a hole along the bottom edge, so that if water DOES get in, it can drain properly. 3) For best results, you need a Hue bridge, and make sure it is in range of the lights themselves. A small home might not matter so much, but if you've a big place, you need to consider placement so the lights can get a decent signal to/from the bridge. Also consider that metal garage doors and 'wet walls' with water pipes might block the signal, so don't position the bridge where such fixtures can interfere. TL;DR - Well worth the cost to dress up your home!

I purchased 3 of these Hue outdoor lights to replace older(non-smart) lights on the back of my home. I have several hue indoor lights and setup was just as easy as with the indoor lights. Reading other reviews, I was a little worried about the brightness, but they work well for my setup. In the attached picture, all 3 lights are set to 50% brightness. During the setup, the lights defaulted to 100% brightness and I did notice that that all 3 fixtures seemed get really hot given they are led lights(almost too hot too touch). When the lights are set to 50% there is basically no noticeable heat. I currently have the lights setup through the hue app( lights on 10 hours at night). I can’t speak on the longevity of the lights as I only installed them a week ago. If I have any issues, I will update this review. As of now, the lights are meet my expectations and are in line with my positive view of other hue lights.

These are not as bright as you would expect them to be. Every other outdoor Philips Hue light is much brighter. It's fine but is noticably less bright than the others.

Super easy to install, we even put in on a blank concrete wall with no prior light fixture. Now on a back porch/lanai, with about 10 other hues, it feels like an island paradise in my backyard. This light gave the porch just the right amount of up and down lighting for security, and for sitting on the porch with a little extra illumination. Better than expected!

I love the Hue products. I have them all over the house. This one however is not bright enough.
