It’s a sleeve so you have to push the pencil through it. It’s a tight fit to so it’s not easy but once it’s on it does move around and it’s comfortable when writing to

Dear customer, Thanks for your question. This case is designed for Apple Pencil 1st generation. Apple has not yet released the 3rd generation.

Will the apple pencil fit covers that have a pencil holder after putting the silicone cover on?

The Apple Pencil silicone cover is a little thick for most pencil holders on the iPad case. The Apple Pencil cover did stretch out my pencil holder on my case a tad bit which could be a problem if you don't plan to keep this silicone pencil cover on. I don't plan to take off this cover so the fit on my case is fine and still secure. It also does depend on the iPad case you have. All in all yes it did still fit my pencil holder in my iPad case just fine. I have the Kenke iPad 7th generation case with pencil holder.

Does it work with a stylus similar to the Apple Pencil first generation?

I have the Apple Pencil first generation and it works perfect. I would assume that it would work with similar products.
