Review: Pretty good. Get the updated version for better playback options though. - This is actually really easy to use, and works. The instructions are online, so make sure to scan the QR code in the package. You just have to charge it and make sure to turn it on before you use it. And it WILL NOT playback when it's plugged in. It has to be unplugged, charged, and set to on. The on slider is easy to miss. BUT The older version will play multiple files, but it plays ALL THE FILES sequentially with one press of the button, and stops at the next press. Get the "updated" version that specifically has different playback modes if you want more control over how the playback happens.
Review: An amazing and versatile sound box - I needed a sound box to put into a project that plays circus music. They don't make any that I could find. This sound box is programmable and you can put what you want into it up to 8mb. I thought the batteries were dead at first when it would not operate. It took some time to discover there is a very tiny unlabeled on/off switch on it. Also, this review asked about volume control. Again, I did not know it had one, but looking at the board I discovered a very tiny unlabeled switch for low, med and high volume settings. It would have been very nice if this device came with some kind of simple instructions and directions. That said, it is simple to load music into and the sound quality is really amazing considering the small size, even at high volume.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I want to replace the button with a no/nc/c one. what do green/blue wires denote? any specific type button i need?**
A: The color of the wires in this case is of no significance. The button serves to apply continuity between the two wires. When pressing the button, it is like touching the two wires together which activates or stops the device. When replacing the button you will want to use one that acts as a momentary switch (connects the two wires only while button is depressed). Hope this helps.

**Q: How many seconds of recording does this hold average.....more that 120 seconds??**
A: It will depend on things like the sampling rate of your recording. At a low sampling rate (you really don't need higher quality, given the speaker) you could probably fit as many as 6-8 average songs. At higher quality sampling rates, maybe only 2.

**Q: How do I get rid of previous recording? I delete and replace but it still plays one after the other.**
A: I had to not only delete the old recording but then empty the trash can of the computer. It seems deleting doesn't actually delete it but just marks the space as open for rewriting new data.

**Q: I connect the board to my computer, note a green light, and push the button. No sound. Unit is 'on'. Whats up?**
A: Here's what's up: The micro USB port kicks the board into storage mode, meaning when it's plugged in via micro usb it only functions as a storage device. So in order to use the device you'll need to wire it to a 5v power source, or a 3.7v rechargeable battery. The seller states the micro USB port does charge the 3.7v battery, so no need for a break away connection.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Handy board with a bad speaker, though that's easy to fix (see details). Recommended
*by D***R on November 17, 2020*

I got the ICStation Recordable Sound Module (8MB) for a small project. I was asked to make a small box with a button that triggers a sound, and that led me to this item. The ICStation board is kind of an all-in-one solution, right? Well, the board arrived without any issues. The LIR2032 batteries arrived with some juice already in them. I hooked the board to a Win10 PC, and copied in my file (and deleted the one that it shipped with). To use the board, you slide the power switch to "on" and press the button. There's a small surface-mounted volume slider. The included speaker is not great... it's about on par with the transducers that they put in greeting cards. For my project, I got rid of the momentary switch and the speaker, replacing it with a 3" full-range unit (pictured). I decided to remote the micro-USB too, using a panel mount port that's connected to a cable. The only part that's tougher to remote is the power slider switch. The power switch is surface-mounted, so I just left the switch in place (in the OFF position) and soldered in leads for another, non-momentary switch. Overall, that results in something that sounds a lot better, and is easier to mount permanently inside an enclosure. Unfortunately, the PCB only has two small holes for mounting, but they aren't something you can use standoffs with. As far as the core board goes, it's pretty amazing what you get for about $15. The batteries alone seem like something that you'd spend a few bucks on. Out of the box, the board does what it says it will. Put a better speaker on it, and you will have something that sounds decent, too. As far as the other stuff I did, with the USB relocation and other switches, it's just good for you to know that it can be done. Recommended
