Difficult latching solved after 2 weeks of use - great product!
Yes, latching and unlatching the gate is not easy for the first two weeks! But, used every day, it loosens up a bit and is easier to use. The first two weeks, I kept a small screwdriver wired to the top of the gate (see photo!) to pry up the end of the latch bar. But this is week three and I don't need the screwdriver anymore. I'm sure it will not loosen any further, either. It's the perfect fit now. Great value for the money. I like it because it's tall enough that the cat cannot leap over it and she can't climb it either. No more long cat hairs to vacuum in that room! The cat is the ONLY ONE in the house who dislikes the new gate. She's thrown a couple of tantrums about it by flinging herself on the floor in front of it, but seems to have recovered. ๐

Terrific and Awesome Pets Gates - Shadow the Wirehair Terrier Approves!
I have purchased three (3) of these MyPet Wire Mesh Pet Gates. There are EXCELLENT! I have one for each of the three (3) bedrooms in my house. My wire hair terrier gets into everything, so these gates do an excellent job of keeping him out of the bedrooms. The metal clip that locks the gate in place if pushed down all the way is a little tough to pull upward to release the gate, but that is ok. You only need to push the clip down a little to lock the gate in place. It is just as secure as if you pushed the clip all the way down to lock the arm. These are strong, durable, and great for the price. The are well built, with quality materials and it appears that they will last for a very long, long time. 100% satisfied with my three (3) MyPet Wire Mesh Pet Gates!

Sturdy and effective โ but a bit too tall for everyday use
I purchased this gate to help keep my 17-month-old safe, even though itโs marketed as a dog gate. It took a little time to figure out the installation, but once set up, it felt very sturdy and secure. The gate does a great job at keeping my toddler from accessing areas I want to keep off-limits. The build quality is solid, and I can see it working really well for large dogs too. My only issue is the height โ at 31 inches, itโs difficult for me to step over (Iโm 5โ2โ). Because of that, I often have to remove and reattach it when going in and out, which is a bit inconvenient. Itโs manageable, but I do worry that I might trip over it one day. Pros: โข Strong and durable construction โข Effective for both dogs and toddlers โข Great height for containing large pets Cons: โข Too tall for easy step-over use, especially for shorter adults โข Not ideal if you need frequent access through the space Overall, Iโm happy with the gateโs performance, and Iโd recommend it for pet owners or parents who donโt need to pass through it often.

A good gate
This is a super great gate. It is simple, sturdy, and isn't a giant pain in the butt to close like the plastic twist to tighten kind! Keeps my kids safe and contained. So I'm sticking with the old fashioned, straight forward gate that you can write on.

Great Gate
Great gate! Ordered this gate to act as a buffer between my big boy and the screen door. I have one of those screen/storm doors that is sort of like a hybrid. I can pull down the 'window' part on top and there is a screen on top (this way I can talk to someone without opening the whole door) Anyway, I put this in the doorway on the inside so he can stay away & not barrel through the door. & bust it open. It works, fits nicely and I can still close the actual front door if I have too.

Needs work on the design but it'll do
Update: After using this gate for a few months, I have come to be annoyed with it more than not. It's difficult to work with--hard to open/close if you want to wedge it between walls but even if you keep it where you just lean it in front of the stairs it sometimes becomes wonky and is difficult to get it right again. While there are aspects I like about it, I'd likely try something else if I never needed to order another one. What I like: Made in the US Lightweight Portable Easy to store when not in use Not plastic but made of wood and metal Price is very reasonable What I don't like so much: Difficult to open the levers - I almost never was able to pull the latch so I used a screwdriver to bend it a little and that worked (as shown in video for reference) Difficult to deal with overall as far as opening and tightening--They could do better with the design. My little chihuahua mix Bear for the first time since I've had him tumbled down my stairs in the middle of the night--he's an older dog now so maybe he was disoriented or just walked too close to the stairs - I will never know. Scared me - he wasn't hurt but that was luck that he was not. This will work well enough if he happens to wander near my stairs again when it's dark - even though I have motion lights in two places, my house is still pretty dark overall at night. This will give me some peace of mind. The only problem is the way my stairs are configured - on one side is the railing and the rubber knobs do fit that, but on the other side is a kind of 'baseboard' that juts out farther than the wall, so only one rubber knob touches on that side. It still feels tight enough since he won't be trying to go down, only accidentally go in that direction - if he does, he'll feel the gate there and change direction. I don't know if I would trust this for a really big dog or a dog that is determined to get through the gate. But for my needs it will work. It's just not the best design.

Worth the money!
We have 8 month old mini schnauzers that have a lot of energy. Before buying this gate, I had to put half the house (blankets, pillows, rugs, shoes, etc) up in the counters when I left the house. The height in this thing is perfect. Now I can secure the dogs in the hallway and walk out the door in less than a minute. Easy and time saving. Donโt waste money on the cheaper ones!

Great but requires a little ingenuity
Depending upon your pet and how crafty he/she is, the mesh gate will simply require you to make adjustments but overall, it is useful & effective to have. It arrived quickly, in great condition as expected & was immediately ready to use but after the 2nd day of using it, my Cat climbed right over it during the night. If I hadn't heard her land on the floor she would have climbed back over before sunrise or before I awoke to make me think she never climbed the gate ( she likely did this the 1st day w/o me knowing but it's always a game of chess w/her!). I now realized she could climb it, but she could not push the gate down due to such a tight fit within the hallway. It fits very tightly between my hallway and requires a hard & steady push for me to move it which is perfect. It is difficult to adjust so I never readjust the gate after finding the right fit. I leave it in the measurement that works for my hallway (marked it w/a sharpy to be safe) so that I can easily remove, open or close it and simply place it back into the hallway afterwards after squeezing it back into position (rubber ends on both sides prevents it from scratching the walls). I simply needed to fix the 'climbability' issue. I read many reviews of suggestions to purchase 2 gates but felt that would be dangerous as my Cat could fall, so I decided to use a Plastic Rain Poncho to cover the gate instead since the height was fine as is for safety purposes but I suppose a blanket or some other plastic/cloth would work just as well. I chose the Poncho because I never use it, it's not something she could easily tear w/her claws, it can be washed, it's easy to take off the gate/easy to put on & she cannot place her paws into the gate to leverage for climbing without slipping back down. So far so good! But again, this requires a little ingenuity so if you're expecting the gate to do all of the work for you, you should find another product or use this as a complimentary product to be used w/something else. Best of luck!

This Pet Gate Works Well
I have two dogs and sometimes need to separate them when they have food, treats, etc. I have a door that could be closed but the gate is betterโthis way the dogs can see whatโs going on and not try to scratch at or burst through the closed door. Itโs also great for keeping them away from cooking or if I want to wash the floor and donโt want them walking over the dampness. Great height for dogs that can jump. One possible concern is that the wood is fairly soft and so a chewer might be attracted to it.

Suitable for small pets

Exactly what I need
I ordered four different gates, each one had an issue, bars that my kitten could squeeze through, gates that required installation and damage to my walls, adhesive strips that evidently pull off drywall. Then this gate. I know the reviews suggest it is flimsy, but I don't find it to be that way. I think it is ideal for a small to medium sized dog. Perhaps a large dog could do some damage to the gate. The key I found is to find a tight fit and with the graduated slots it was easy to find that perfect solid fit. Also, it is very portable, not heavy to remove like metal gates. I really like it, it's a winner for me!

Also works for bedroom door frame of your 4 yrs old
after you tried every thing else. Good resale value.

Blocks wide entrance to sunroom
We wanted to keep the dogs out of the sunroom, but traditional baby gates weren't wide enough. This worked fine. Able to work despite 6" baseboards. Only down-side is that this gate is "noisy" if you bang into it, as the wire mesh rattles in the wood. Not a deal breaker, but noteworthy.
