Great product!
This is a really great product. It's so simple, easy to install, and works exactly how you'd hope. This company has two versions of the door buddy: 1. This strap version, which just sticks to the door and frame with strong adhesive. So it requires no tools at all to install, just takes a minute or two, and seems to hold very well. It can be removed without any damage. It does require you to lift and replace the latch each time you use the door. That means you have to remember to relatch it every time (and you have to trust other family members to relatch it...kids, husband, etc.). But, it also means you can fully close the door whenever you need to. 2. The is a more rigid, plastic version as well. This one is also very easy to install. My six-year-old wanted to do it, so I let her, and she was able to install it easily (and had fun doing it). You just use a screwdriver to remove the door plate. Then you replace it with this product. Done. Now you can open and close the door with the doorknob just like you'd use any door. This one is very convenient because you don't have to remember to relatch anything (or trust anyone else in the house to remember). You just use the door as normal. The downside here is that you cannot close the door fully while this is installed. So, I have both versions of the product. Right now, I have an adult cat and a new kitten. I also have a dog, who likes to get into the litterbox, if given the chance (yuck). The cat's litterbox is in the laundry room. I have the rigid version on the laundry room door. It works great. When we added the kitten, we made a little space for her in the guest bathroom with her own litterbox in there. I bought the soft strap version. I don't love having to reattach it each time, but I needed to be able to fully close the bathroom door sometimes (so it can be a usable bathroom for humans, and also so I can sometimes close the kitten in there to keep her safe while we're gone). Anyway, I'm just really glad this product exists. It's such a simple, affordable device that solved a very practical problem.

Cheaper and easier than a gate
The Door Buddy Pet Door Latch for Cats (Grey) has been absolutely perfect for our basement door setup. We needed a way to keep the dog out of the litter box area, but adding a gate at the top of the stairs would have made carrying laundry up and down really dangerous. This was such a smart and simple solution. It allows the door to stay cracked just enough for the cats to slip through, while keeping the dog out. And let’s be honest — kitties hate closed doors! This gives them the freedom they want while still maintaining separation where we need it. I especially love that you can easily lift the latch up to open the door normally. It’s quick and convenient when we need full access. Another thoughtful touch is that it includes instructions for removing the adhesive if needed, which gave me extra confidence installing it. Overall, it’s easy to use, effective, and much safer than a gate in our situation. Highly recommend for multi-pet households!

Efficient and easy to set up.
Works great to prevent our dog from getting into the cat’s food. Easy to set up with quick and easy instructions. Able to quickly take on and off to get into room and adjustable for different doors. It is difficult to remove and does peel paint when we moved.

Pricey but Works
Works well as intended. Allows my cat privacy in the laundry room! Didn't give it 5 stars because is is pricey for what it is.

Got what you’d expect and more
Worked just as you’d think for a few years in the apartment. Kept the dog out of the cat’s bathroom, super easy to latch and unlatch if you’re not a dog. Time came to move and in the middle of moving my first thought was oh crap this thing is gonna pull the paint off the door. Well we blasted it with a cheap hair dryer and it came off nice and easy with no damage. Couldn’t ask for more.

Perfect!
Love this product! My sisters dog would always go in my room and eat my cats food when I was at work, I ordered this and it’s big enough for my cat to go in. You can also adjust it and it’s really easy to put on does the job!

Works Great
It’s great. My roommate’s dogs kept getting into my cat’s litter box. Now my cat can get in and out without me worrying about them. I used the less stable method to apply it to my door (there’s two ways to install it) because it’s in a weird spot and it still works just as well.

Would be useful for smaller dogs.... but then they'd be the same size as cats
To preface, I have 2 dogs: a terrier that is about 50lbs and an australian shepherd dog that is roughly 40lbs. I also own 3 cats. I put 2 of these in my basement to create cat areas so my dogs can leave them alone. occasionally though I have people over and one of the cat rooms is also the 'hang out' area where people can watch movies etc. I put one on the aforementioned room and another on the laundry room door. I followed the instructions and cleaned each area with 90% isopropyl alcohol. I left both to cure for 24 hours. my larger dog didn't really want to try to go through it so I thought it was a success. however, she stuck her snoot in the door crack and the adhesive just popped off and she welcomed herself into the room. the same thing happened to the laundry room with the smaller dog who welcomed herself to cat food (and crap from the litter box... she's a little touched). I tried mounting it in a different configuration and it really didn't bode much better. I considered screwing it to the door and then it came to me if I wanted to screw it to the door, I'd buy something more appropriate. in any case, my dogs are not BIG big but are big enough and they went through these with minimal effort. if the dog was a bit smaller, they would probably be able to get through the crack the same as a cat would (maybe with a little persistence). I have a return pending for these but lost the box so the refund probably won't post. if your dog is a bit larger than your cat but maybe less than 25lbs, it might work for you... or not. I'm sure a pug with a good charge can probably blast through this (I had a pug dachshund before and this guy climbed a 6' tall baking rack. RIP you completely bonkers pupper). if you're using this to protect a room from a baby, it depends on if the baby has the ability to charge a door or has evolved enough to use simple tools to get through. all in all, I bought 2 and both ended within a week of using them. ah well.

Fantastic, just buy it, you’ll wish you had it years ago!
I’ve had this four years and when I moved house, I took off the adhesive. It came with and replaced it with a very strong double sided tape and now I’m using it in the new house. It’s fantastic! I actually used it simply to keep the door from opening all the way and letting too much light into the bedroom because it disturbs my sleep. Perfect as the cat could Come and go at he pleased. Today I have purchased a second one. We moved into an old house and the doors don’t all latch. We have a new kitten we’re integrating into our home and so we need to keep doors closed while they get to know each other’s scents. We are actually using this to keep the doors 99% closed and the cats safely separated. You will not regret purchasing this. There may be a child proof version that would be less expensive but we are able to use this in the middle of the night when it’s dark and we are half asleep getting up and going to the restroom it is so easy to pop in and out as it’s just a little hook. So good!!!!

MUY FÁCIL DE INSTALAR
Perfecto!

Easy and effective
I don't like leaving my bedroom door open at night but my cat likes to sleep in my bed with me and needs to be able to come and go to use her litter box and eat. I love this alternative to locking her out of my room each night. I didn't use the adhesives provided because I could tell that they would be VERY hard to remove from the door frame (which is a good thing if you're keeping dogs or small children out of a room and need that sort of strength - there were specific instructions on how to remove the adhesives provided, too, if necessary) and opted for more easily removable adhesives in case I need to remove the product should I move in the future. I like that the length of the strap is adjustable because my cat is chubby and she's had no problem fitting through the space between the door and the door frame; however, I wouldn't be surprised if fat kitties would have some trouble squeezing through, depending on the door frame and the product's placement. The hook is easily locked and unlocked to open the door fully and doesn't slip out when kitty comes and goes.
