easy to use controls
Granted, my last digital camera was about when they began making digital SLRs, but wow! This thing is impressive. Fast focusing, easy to use controls, and amazing picture. I'm still getting used to moving through the settings quickly enough to get just the right shot, but hat's to be expected with any new item such as this. I was out of the photo game for a bit, but this camera has revitalized my passion for photography.

Excellent camera
This is a fantastic DSLR camera. Don't be fooled by the price, it's evonomical, takes photos just as well as a camera that costs thousands of dollars, that is if you use it under proper light conditions. I would recommend to anyone who wants to have wonderful memories to look back on in the future. Very sturdy, durable and overall excellent for the price.

Great overall!
Overall, this camera was very good. It has two good lenses in the kit, and I have been able to get a few good pictures with it. It has took a while to get used to it but it is very nice compared to a phone camera, or some other small camera. The video on the other hand, is not that good. The quality is fairly poor and the internal mic barely works! But, that is to be expected from a dslr this cheap. If you are going for photography, this is a good camera with a wide range of settings and focal length. If you are going for video, this is not for you. It just doesn't do the best. Your phone will do just as good or better for video. Great camera, lots of good pictures. But, there are MUCH better cameras on the market now, so if you have more to spend, look for a better option. Great budget dslr!

CHECK *Carefully* of what is actually included.
Cam and lenses OK... Didn't dig deep enough to find out that the pictures in on the web page were not necessarily what you will get. Ended up ordering a lot of accessories that were shown in the web page separately.. Battery included did hold somewhat of a charge. Ordered replacements and a rational charger.

As easy or as complicated as you want it to be
This is probably one of the best cameras in it's class. It works great for the beginner and is capable of growing with you as you gain confidence with photography and with the camera itself. When this first arrived I was overwhelmed by all of the buttons. I never thought I would learn them. After reviewing the included literature once I feel reasonably confident on playing with some manual settings. It takes phenomenal pictures in auto "point-and-shoot" mode and has several auto/manual modes that seemed to be designed to take you from "what is a DSLR?" to "I think a lower F-stop would really bring out her eyes." The pictures in fully automated mode are vivid, crisp and well-exposed for just about any subject in nearly any lighting condition. My cellphone camera takes pictures that make me look like a manic gorilla but this camera makes me look like a professional.

First DSLR Love it. Have someone walk you through the menu.
My first DSLR. I love it. The price is right and It takes great pictures. If you can find someone that has a similar camera that is your best bet. these can be a lot to learn on your own. The menu functions are really good if you have someone tell you a few things about it. I tried learning it by myself first and I could not get good pictures unless I was in auto. I have had it for about 2 months now and I love it.

Pretty good, with a few caveats
Full disclosure: I really miss my old, fully manual, heavy, tough-as-nails camera that used actual film. Digital devices tend to make me angry. However, I took a leap of faith and bought this bundle, when the price was deeply reduced, because I am sick of the many limitations of my cell phone camera. I am pleased with my purchase overall, with a few caveats. Picture quality on this Nikon is excellent, the feel of the camera is comfortable and light in the hands (if a bit too plasticky), buttons and toggles seem to be in logical positions (for a right-handed person, at least). The lenses seem to be well made, but I'm not sure I can judge that, as my point of reference is the equivalent-length, pre-digital, fully mechanical lens that makes these plastic-casing lenses feel cheap. Once you know where everything is on the camera, and how to get the functions and images you want, it all feels very WYSIWYG. However, until you have learned the ropes, it is nearly impossible to see the icons on the different settings and functions. This camera is made for young eyes, which is annoying for middle-aged me. The printed instructions are written for an utter neophyte (how to hold a camera and stand to take a photo, for instance), so it's easy enough to find out what to do. But why go with an icon the size of an ant when you could use an easily-seen color, or letter? It's frustrating. The editing software that comes with thus is useless, so my husband told me after he tried to install it. He checked various boards online and found many complaints about it saying much the same thing, so I guess I'll be using another program. I do wonder, too, why these things are never sold with memory cards, or why Amazon doesn't link one in the "often bought together" option. I stole one from my husband's stash of digital goodies (he says to me, with just the tiniest bit of an eye roll, that memory cards are never included with these things, so silly me).
