La Crosse Technology 617-1485B Atomic Color Alarm Clock with USB Charging Port

Got it today, set it up. Follow the directions, they make it easy. It has four pads on the bottom, so won't scratch wood furniture. The WWV will ensure it keeps accurate time. It is very sleek with a clean design, doesn't take up much space on the night stand. Of note, the WWV search function may take awhile ... being the impatient person I am, at first it was frustrating. While in the search mode, the backlite goes off, irrespective of what setting you have used. Once it locks on to the satellite, it goes back to whatever backlite setting you selected. After many attempts and wondering if it didn't work right, I left the room, let it do its search, when later I went back, it had locked on and the backlite had returned to the setting I had selected. Perhaps the instructions could have mentioned that, but mostly, my own impatience is at fault. I did not deduct any stars for my impatience. :) Time is quite large, other ancillary info is much smaller. The colors help differentiate info and overall, in the dim backlite setting, won't be a source of light pollution at night. I have set the alarm, but have yet to use it. Like everything else, follow the directions and it will be easy to use. The only thing I see that could improve it, is to have a second alarm that can be set.

Some have given this clock a five star rating while others call it trash. Hmmmmmm. Undoubtedly, some buyers (such as myself) lucked out and received wonderful product while others received lemons. You could say the same about ANY product, NO MATTER WHERE YOU PURCHASE IT, but realistically, most companies would go out of business in a heartbeat if all they did was build trash. The best advice I can give you is to treat any product you buy (again, no matter where you purchase it) like a trial run. Always keep the box until the return window closes and find where your nearest FedEx/UPS/USPS office is located and don't hesitate or be LAZY to return the product if you feel it is defective or badly engineered. I would be willing to bet that 99.999% of all companies around the world would rather replace the product or refund your money than to get a bad review on Amazon or anywhere else (maybe tell them you plan to give their product a bad review and see what happens?). Suspecting exaggeration on the part of some reviewers, I purposely oriented the clock in a north/south direction (something a few other reviewers warn not to do because they claim it will not pick up the atomic signal that way). Not only did it IMMEDIATELY pick up and lock onto the signal like a rottweiler biting a home invader on the behind and not letting go, but has been dead balls-on accurate ever since. It advances to each next minute in perfect lock-sync with my cell phone carrier's (and my computer's) time signals. A lucky coincidence? I think not. I believe this is a well-built product, but I'm not saying that some buyers may have received a defective product. Keep those boxes! This clock has a three-brightness display controlled by the snooze bar. The brightest setting lets the display double as a lighthouse and, along with the large digit size, can be read by most anyone (even during the day), even if they have mild vision impairment. Tap the snooze bar once and the display dims so you can get some sleep, but still read the time in a darkened room. Tap it again, and the display turns off altogether. The clock also displays the room temperature and humidity percentage with arrows indicating the temperature and humidity trends (going up, down, or holding steady). The alarm sound is an insistent but non-annoying beeping that's sure to awaken even the deepest of sleepers. The clock also displays the day, month and date in a orange color to distinguish them from other data on the display. There is even a nifty moon phase indicator and, of course, the obligatory USB port to charge your smartphone. I am sad to report that this will be my last review on Amazon. This is because I have not received answers from Amazon concerning questions I had about their Vine membership, so now I will no longer be participating in anything at all. I thank all my fellow shoppers who have given my reviews "helpful" ratings and hope all their future shopping experiences are happy and satisfying. UPDATE: I have owned this product for two years and last night it went belly up! It was a good two years, but last night the display went out and the item is now a piece of trash.

I was really pleased when I got this clock. It's a replacement for a battery only atomic clock - I had to keep changing the batteries because the sensor seemed to stay on all day! Anyway, this has a really nice display and I would have given it 5 stars when it first arrived. It arrived before daylight saving time changed. I was disappointed to see that I still had to go in and change a setting. The cheaper battery clock changed automatically. Minus one star. Around 2 AM and 3 AM, the display blanks out for some reason. You can still see the time by pressing the button on the top, but the display only stays on for about a second. The USB must also stop charging and my Kindle turns on, lighting up the room. I now charge it upside down. I don't know if this happens EVERY night or not, as I usually sleep through. Still, it can be annoying. Minus one star. Last night (Thursday 1/14) I looked over before I went to sleep and the clock said it was after midnight and it was now Tuesday 1/1) It was still Thursday around 11 am. There was no radio signal icon. This morning, it was back to the right time, day and date. Ack. Minus another star. Wow, three annoying issues? Minus another star. I guess I'm stuck with it now as it's been several months. But, I'm really disappointed. Today, March 29, 2016 I woke up and it said it was October 22. Time to just get rid of this. I tried this again- very stupid. But this time I thought it would work for over my TV but it went blank around 8 pm and was never very bright. Time for a return.

I purchased this clock along with a Roku Ultra as part of cutting the cord with my cable tv provider. The reason being, the Roku doesn't have a clock on its face the way my cable tv set top box did. My entertainment center seemed a little void without the time and this clock fills that void perfectly. Overall, this clock has a perfect balance of features with indoor temp/humidity, etc since my hvac thermostat is old-school and not entirely accurate. Love the color scheme for the different pieces of information too! Also, I've read lots of reviews talking about sync trouble with the us atomic clock. Im in NC and mine seems to sync without any trouble nightly. The signal from CO has been modified & upgraded over the years to cover the lower 48 states. My guess is many of the troubles described herein arise from localized high interference. Finally, those complaining that illumination doesn't remain on haven't read the manual. Instructions very clearly state that illumination goes out (1) when running only on batteries and (2) when attempts are being made to synch with the us atomic clock. Two issues prevent a 5-star rating: 1. Not understanding why this model only has a 0.5/1.0A usb port, yet the vertically oriented & LESS EXPENSIVE variant (also from La Crosse) sports a 2.0A port. (This one: La Crosse Technology C86224 Dual USB Charging Alarm with Nap Timer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H7KG2YS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7fQzAbEW1XKR2) 2. I also echo the sentiments I've read in multiple reviews herein... there is significant loss of clarity when viewing from reasonably indirect angles above & below. Side-to-side is pretty solid, however. The worst of these effects is the illusion of all segments lit instead of the actual time values.

This is a small clock that fits nicely on a nightstand or shelf. I love that you can dim the light so it does not bother you at night. Love all the differnt information it displays. I would recommend.

It’s not hard to set up but mine was a little quirky but once I figured it out, it was very easy. It didn’t find the atomic clock right away so I left to go shopping. Got back about three hours later and found it had connected, I just had to make sure it was on Central time. EZ PZ. It also set day, date and month so I was happy I didn’t have to mess with that. Love immediately seeing what day and date it is. Being retired, I sometimes lose track. LOL.

I was surprised at how difficult it was to find a simple atomic alarm clock that didn't have 80 extra features I didn't want or need, so this one seemed like a good choice (although I'm not sure why anybody needs to know the phases of the moon?) It's nice and small, unlike most of the other huge ones I could find, so it fits nicely on my bedside table. The display has three levels (bright, medium, and off), which you cycle through by pressing the snooze button. It would not sync the whole first day I had it, but it was able to sync in the middle of the night. I think it syncs every night at 1:00 am, because unfortunately it cuts my phone on at 1:00 am every morning with a loud ding because it's charging with a usb cord connected to the clock (one of the features I wanted, but not the midnight ding). I do wish the base was weighted, because this clock is very lightweight and falls off the table with a very light bump. Overall I'm happy with it, but the design could use a little bit of work.

I have bought several La Crosse Atomic ANALOG wall clocks and I love them. I thought I'd try this Digital clock. After five days, it still hasn't sync'd up, even though it's fairly close to a La Crosse Analog wall clock that sync'd up quickly. The bottom row of info can't be read from across the room. The "foot" of the clock can't be adjusted, meaning that it can't be read from all locations. The size of the characters isn't as big as it might be. The face of the clock blacks out when it's searching for the WWV signal. EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Poor engineering. On the plus side, the buttons are well thought out and can be adjusted from the front. This clock doesn't meet my needs in the living room. I'll try to find a place where it syncs up and is close by.

Love this clock! I ordered another for a family member because they had difficulty setting the time on their old digital clock (when time changes occurred or power went out). 3 settings for brightness, and has battery back up. Unplug it and it resets on own. Perhaps the comments from others about the clock going blank is related to it being an atomic clock and calibrates to Colorado when needed. When this happens (I’ve had it at night a few times) , it goes blank but comes back on. If u touch the top snooze button it also comes back on. Love the displays of temp, humidity, date and time. Nice colors and large font. Recommend!

REGULAR, Y DEMASIADA INFORMACIÓN EN LA PANTALLA Después de muchos años de servicio, y ya con algunas fallas, decidí sustituir mi excelente reloj Lacrosse Technology modeloC87061. Este nuevo reloj que adquirí no es tan completo como el anterior, únicamente tiene una alarma en lugar de dos , tampoco cuenta con opción de cambiar a el idioma a español. La información es mucha para una pantalla pequeña lo cual ocasiona confusión y el color de la información de la humedad no es fácil de ver. Los botones de ajuste son difíciles de identificar. Si un producto es excelente, por qué no lo conservan o realmente lo mejoran? ACTUALIZACIÓN AL 6 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 2024. He decidido rebajar a una estrella la calificación de este producto. La brillantez y color de los caracteres de la pantalla se han degradado y ya no pueden leerse fácilmente. No hay comparación con mi antiguo C87061. Ya no lo puedo retornar y esperaría que el fabricante hiciera algo al respecto. Definitivamente; no recomiendo este producto.
