Roku remote BUTTONS TO TINY for my big(?) fingers & other hand issues
Purchased Sept 2022/Reviewed Feb 2024. Well, with age comes problems, man, what a pain! And pain is what I was trying to help alleviate. The roku remote, it's rather simple, small, has small buttons & after a while a pain to use on a repeated basis. I have had issues with carpal tunnel & some arthritis in my fingers that now makes the roku remote problematic at times.Originally I purchased this remote to actually replace the TV Remote that had come with the TV due to some of the buttons no longer responding on the remote. I was using the remote for the TV & THEN using the Roku remote after that. Most of the time I just used the TV remote to turn TV on/off & then for OTA CHANNEL if watching OTA. Then the remote on/off button stopped working, I had to get up & walk to the TV itself to turn on/off with buttons under the screen. If using OTA function, channel up down button only worked one way. This was ok for quite a while, but you guessed it - I got tired of HAVING TO DO THAT. [TV is not a smartTV]To sum it up: I got this remote so I could properly control the TV again. I LIKE the size of the buttons, I can press them easily with my fingers (which are not really all that big!) After using the remote for a while, I decided to set it up to control the roku, which I was frankly using a lot since that is where all the streaming access is & those small buttons on that remote bothered me on days when the CTS was acting up or my fingers were slightly stiff. This remote works very well to control the roku functions. Starting, stopping, fast fwd/reverse,pause - all the functions the roku remote did -- now I control the TV & Roku functions from one remote. Really like that I only have to have one device to use. If using OTA channels, remote works fine.My one complaint, this came with backlight button function - it worked for several months & then stopped. I kinda miss that function, but I'm not gonna mark off for that -- everything else works fine. I can always use my cell phone flashlight if nex. to light up remote buttons.

Universal Remote device.
I had one almost identical to this one for years. The backlight is bright and the keys are very responsive. There is only one small drawback that prevents me from giving it the highest rating possible. The keys do what they are supposed to do, but the "Last" channel button doesn't work as the other one I owned did.Hitting the "Last" channel button was very convenient, but this tiny drawback isn't a really important issue. The buttons are a little different because this model has icons on the keypad rather than text, which is a plus.I hate it when I buy something that works beautifully, but when it finally fails, the original item is usually no longer available. I resorted to doing what I generally do when I find something I like. I ordered three of them and now I can have what I like for years to come without the item not being available in the future.

Just unwrap and use
My 4-year-old "lost" our remote. He was mad I wouldn't put on Paw Patrol or some such drivel. Anyway, it conveniently disappeared after that. We looked for 3 weeks for that stupid thing until I finally broke down and ordered a new one. We joked that as soon as we did that the old one would reappear. We have had the new remote now for about 2 weeks. I like it better than the old one actually. Just this morning while getting my coffee I turned around and found the old one sitting on my kitchen island. Now, I am a neat nik and the kitchen is the center of our open-concept house. No way in h-e-double hockey sticks did we walk past it for 5 weeks. It is magic and infuriating. Anyway, the new remote will stay in commission until said time that it is disappeared again by my raging 4-year-old, and the old will be the back up I guess.

Not the same remote as before!
I bought one of these remotes about a year ago from a local store, rhymes with Lig Bots, for my Akai 42 inch tv. It worked just as it should, and still does. I was delighted. Then last month I ordered what I thought was the same exact remote from Amazon. When it came, it looked exactly like the one I bought earlier. I tried all the codes for my Akai listed in the manual, and only found one code that halfway worked, but it had many of the functions on the wrong buttons, and others that wouldn't work at all.Obviously, GE has made changes in this remote while still maintaining the same looks, but changing the internal programing.Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and fork over the big bucks for a Harmony remote. I sure am sorry this one did not work like the discount store one does. Still, at the low cost here on Amazon, I'm O.K. with my purchase.

Perfect remote for my needs!
This is the perfect remote for my needs! I'm legally blind (20/200+) in my left eye, so having large buttons are perfect. Plus the light up button definitely glows bright at night. I have a 40" Vizio Smart TV, small 1' wide sized Insignia sound bar and a Roku all connected together. If you grow tired of using 3 remotes like I did, get this remote.I purchased a sound bar because the my TV speakers are facing downward not towards me, the audience. Blasting to TV to 50-80 sound volume just to hear at a decent level, is not optimal. The smart TV interface is also not conducive for my sight. The streaming icons (Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, etc...) are too small but the Roku icons are not. So that's why set up was complicated with three remotes but no longer.
