Review: Adorable book! - This Duck & Goose book is an adorable story about Goose feeling down and his friends (Duck, Thistle and Blue Bird) try to guess ways to cheer him up before he finally just says he needs a hug! ❤️ I think reading this story so many times has helped my son (14 months) learn to hug when asked. Review: Wonderful - Such a good book! My daughters favorite. And I love how it talks about emotions! Great for 1, 2, and 3 year olds.

Our favorite!
This was our first book of the Duck & Goose line. It is just PRECIOUS! I think it's perfect for teaching kiddos about emotion and feeling sad. In the book, Goose is sad and his friends try to cheer him up without ever asking him what he needs. The moral of the story is to ask someone how you could help and, honestly, my daughter has picked up on this. She reads this book almost every day. We make it more fun and add to the story where we can- for example, Duck thinks Goose wants to sing a silly song and before we turn the page we sing a silly song with "doo doo doo's" and my kids always crack up! The pictures are gorgeous and make it so that my 3 year old- who cannot read- can practically tell the story page by page. My kids also love starting the story off so sad and ending so happy. It's a great ride and a wonderful story!

Another "Duck and Goose" Winner
My 3 and a half year old grandson is a "Duck and Goose" lover - make that a "rabid fan!!" He has all the books in Tad Hills' series and seriously checks the back of each book (where the entire series is listed) to make sure he has every "D&G" book in the collection. He was fairly distraught when he discovered that he would have to wait for Hills to write the next book in the series. We checked Amazon.com frequently to see if perhaps another book had been published. Imagine our ecstacy when we discovered that "Goose Needs a Hug" would be released on 12/26/12. I immediately pre-ordered the book and amazingly, it arrived in the mail on 12/26/12. Despite all of his other Christmas presents, my little guy carried around "Goose needs a Hug" all day. Those of you with older (3+) "Duck and Goose" fans, be advised that this is a cardboard book. Some of the books in the series are available in "paper page" books that are a little more appropriate for older kids. This little deterrent did not stop me from even thinking twice about ordering this book. For those of you unfamiliar wth the "Duck and Goose" series, please read my (and many, many others') previous reviews. Duck and Goose and their little friends are adorable and each book in the series has a different message, all appropriate for kids from age 2 and up (or maybe even younger!). Tad Hills' books encourage both critical thinking and helping children to understand emotions and consequences of behavior. "Goose needs a Hug" is no different. This book (as do the others) really "speaks" to my grandson (and to me!). The author seems to understand what kids understand. I hope I've made it clear that I love Duck and Goose books and "Goose needs a Hug" did not disappoint. Perhaps Tad Hills could write the next Duck and Goose book a little faster!

Again? Again? Again?
This is my son's current favorite book - we read it at least 4x a night before bed. He especially loves acting out the suggestions of Duck and friends - poking us for "tag, you're it!", kicking his feet for splashing in puddles, tapping his head when they do headstands, singing "LA LA LA" when they sing a happy song, etc. And then of course he gets a BIG hug at the end of the book! Who wouldn't love that? He's a big fan of Duck and Goose overall, but I think this is one of the more charming and interactive books in the series.

Not as Good as the Pumpkin Story
My 18 month old loves the pumpkin story for Duck & Goose. We read it to her several times per day. She has it almost memorized and will follow along with her finger while we read to her. She even says the "No." parts in the cutest way when we simply point to the word. This book isn't written as cute. There's something lacking in the words they chose. BUT my daughter will give us hugs when we ask for them, now that she's read this book several times. So, that's a major perk- knowing that she learned something from this short story. She would receive hugs prior to reading this book, but didn't understand to give them back. Now, she gives them back and it's amazing.

Cute way to teach key emotional concepts
We have a few Duck & Goose books and love the series, but this might be my favorite. Goose is having a hard time, and his friends try really hard to cheer him up. The only problem is that they are trying so hard to cheer him up that they aren't listening to what Goose says he needs. It's a great way to illustrate a few important concepts: 1) You need to listen to what people say they need 2) You can't assume other people would want what you would, and 3) Tell people what you need. It's simple and age appropriate, but I'm pretty sure there are a lot of adults out there that could use this book too.

Wie bereits bei dem Buch 1 2 3 geschrieben. Diese Serie ist einfach super. Man kann den Kindern spielerisch die ersten Worte beibringen.
