Great knife
I’m a huge fan of Kershaw knives. I’ve been collecting knives for more than 30 years now. I also forge my own knives, so I like to think I know what makes a good knife. Kershaw knives as a whole are great knives. They are well made using quality materials, ergonomic, they are designed well, and they are aesthetically appealing. They’re also quite affordable compared to other brands. I saw this knife in a knife store in San Francisco and thought it was pretty cool, but they wanted $150 for it. When my family and I go to San Francisco (pier 39) we often go to this little knife store that usually has all the latest knives that have come out. I’ve gotten in the habit of taking pictures of the ones I like, then once I get home I find them online for a better price. This knife was no exception. The knife has two different types of steel used for the blade. A harder steel on the cutting edge and a softer steel on the spine using Kershaw’s patented process which not only adds function, but also looks really cool. The action of the assisted opening mechanism is very smooth, fast, and works without fail. The handle is slim, sleek, and it fits well in the hand. I always have a pocket knife on me and I switch them out regularly, but lately I’ve been caring this knife on me for a while. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a quality knife.

My all time favorite
The Kershaw Dividend is my all time favorite knife, so when I saw the new composite blade version here on Amazon, I had to order it. I’m happy to report that the quality remains the same as always. This knife fits my hand perfectly, neither too large nor small. The action is very quick and smooth. Razor sharp out of the box and USA made Kershaws have, in my experience, always held a good edge for stainless steel. The Dividend is very thin so it sits a pocket comfortably. It’s also quite light for a knife of this size. Durable when used responsibly. This latest Dividend is a winner.

Great all metal knife from Kershaw.
I like that the dividend completes my Leek, Link, and now Dividend, set of Kershaw's. It slightly larger than the Leek and has the same handle material as my Link. It fits right in between & may be my favorite of the 3. It snaps open easier than the others and doesn't have the annoying safety lock of the Leek. Fit and finish are perfect, very sharp and no flaws. Deep carry. Not slippery, even though it is aluminum. Might buy another if offered in a brighter color than olive green or in steel like my Leek. Sharp tooth blade is so cool.

Excellent little EDC knife
I own quite a few Kershaw pocket knives, my current carry knife is a “Junkyard Dog”, which is quite a bit larger and heavier than this “Dividend”. I got this knife because it was smaller and lighter and easily fits in my pocket or clipped in the corner of my pocket. I’ve been a fan of these composite blades ever since they came out and this one is excellent! As usual with Kershaw knives it is “hair shaving” sharp right out of the box, I immediately put it on my StropMan “4 Stroke” strop and it’s now like a scalpel. For the price, it’s hard to beat. The liner lock is solid and easy to actuate. The aluminum scales make the knife very light and easy to handle. You really can’t go wrong with it if you’re looking for a budget friendly small pocket knife for light use every day.

Impressive D2 composite blade - fun EDC for light duty only
This review is for the Kershaw Composite Dividend model1812OLCB. The blade is made of Bohler N690 on the spine and CPM D2 on the edge. This knife was dull out of the box as others have reported. However, this was fortunate as it forced me to sharpen it right away. I own other knives made of D2 steel including a Benchmade, but this has to be one of the toughest blades to sharpen that I have encountered. Although this required some work, I am fairly confident that its new edge will hold up longer than normal. I am really impressed by this composite blade. Pros - Great use of blade steels. Kershaw Speedsafe provides a nice assisted open. Appealing overall design and aesthetics. Made in USA. Cons - Liner lock is thin metal and I would not trust this for heavy use. Liner lock requires 2 hands to disengage safely - IMO. Does not have a blade closed lock like the Scallion/Chive assisted open models - may not be a big deal for you. A solid lockup would have made this worth the $77 I paid - but without it - not so much. Kershaw needs to up their lock game when building beefier knives. Benchmade, Cold Steel and Spyderco in comparison have solid lock designs and above average steel in the $75- $150 range.

Made in the USA!
This is a fantastic knife and a great value for a product made in the USA. I’ve made the decision to not buy products made in China when USA options are available. This knife is a great value and offers some amazing features. First: Color and Texture. I like the smooth, aluminum body with rounded edges and the color pattern on this one, especially on the blade itself. It makes the knife look more classy, like a a gentleman’s knife, and less tactical looking. Second: Blade. Don’t let the gentleman look fool you. This blade is super sharp and extremely versatile. It has incredible slicing capabilities. The point is capable of piercing leather. Third: Made in the USA. Because it’s important to let brands like Kershaw know that their customers are patriots and support USA made brands over China models. The one con: The pocket clip was lose and could not be retained in place. It coud easily slide out. I used a T-6 driver to unscrew and remove the clip to adjust it. Better but still not great.
