Ibanez TS9 Model Overdrive Pedal - TS9, Classic, MultiColored

This pedal....so much has been said about it. Legendary...is the word often used. Using this term is extremely accurate. It's THE sound. It's basically turning a tube amp into a higher quality, better sounding Boss Metal zone. Many call it or use it as a "Boost" pedal. That isn't quite accurate. When people say "boost" most think about a boost in volume. It boosts the mid frequency and Gain. Put this pedal in the front(not the FX loop) of the amp with your Amp's distortion channel gain set to around 12-1 o' clock. Set this pedal to 0 Drive, Tone...wherever u want and Volume up past 12 o clock somewhere and you have literal awesomeness. I have a Marshall amp and one of the most irritating things about Marshall's distortion tone is the "woody" sounding bass. You cannot get rid of it unless you dial the bass to 0 and then your guitar sounds like it's coming from some old transistor radio. Use a tube screamer in conjunction with a Marshall amps distortion produces some of the best sounds ever and you will want to play the damn guitar all day! They say it "tightens" the sound. It does far more than this. It increases the mids. It increases the High's and the Marshall's "woody" bass is altered to usable bass. It increases the gain which means you can have your amp's gain level lower and still get some amazing sounds. It's also great on it's own. You need an overdrive just on the threshold of clipping that sounds magical...look no further! This is IT! Amazing Legendary pedal hand's down!

Love this pedal, had it for over a ear now and still going strong. I have my guitar straight into the TS9 going into a noise gate, into my Peavey 6505+ and it brings out the best possible tone on the Lead channel. It just has the perfect drive to bring out the distortion and it chugs perfectly for metal and rock. In addition the TS9 create great tone for single notes, they’re really clear and sharp, and nothing sounds fuzzy or muddy. That is, if you turn the drive nob fully, then it can be muddy sounding. You need very little drive for this to work well. Great sounding pedal, would recommend for anyone regardless of the genre you play. I mostly play metal and alternative but it is versatile pedal, so you can use it with any amp.

This is one bad to the bone pedal, it does a very good job of adding "cut", to your sound, and giving a more gnarly, lead-esque type tone. I used this to pair with a ts808 (as the 808 on it's own into a clean amp just doesn't produce enough distortion), and it works VERY well. This to my ears, is a slightly darker, more biting sound, with obviously more overdrive & from what I've read and as well checks out to the ear test, a slight increase in output. That said, it's a great, versatile pedal. This pedal ranges I'd say from very light overdrive, to almost being a faux distortion pedal, and can easily imitate a fuzz pedal with another pedal to boost it (which I do, sounds great). Can't go wrong with the classics, I've purchased some very expensive pedals, and I hated many of them with a deep seated passion. I'd say if you want the classic sound, go classic.

Amazing!

This is a fantastic overdrive pedal. It is a classic for a reason, it produces a fantastic tone and let's you dial in the right amount of overdrive (nothing too heavy though, for that get a distortion, not an overdrive). Not only is it a great overdrive, it also helps shapping the tone of your guitar. Owning a Gretsch Electromatic G5435T it is known that the high end of this guitar is not great, in fact I used to play almost every song using the neck pickup. With the arrival of the TS9 this is no longer the case, it brings the Gretsch bridge pickup alive. My favorite feature of this pedal is the tone control. It produces such a fantastic tone cranked all the way up that my guitar sounds just wrong when this pedal is off. It functions as a booster for your signal bringing out the mids and highs, without killing your low end. Since I don't own a booster pedal yet I am leaving the tone cranked all the way up and dial the Drive knob according to the song. I love the tone so much that I don't even want to to play the clean signal of my guitar. I will probably get an EP Booster soon and that way I can back off the tone knob a little bit and let the booster do most of the tone shapping. Meanwhile this pedal is doing a great job at both shaping my tone and creating a fantastic creamy overdrive.

I just like the ibanez brand in general but this pedal doesn't disappoint. 4 stars because it's good but not great

Best effect I ever got, always on, it improves my overall EQ and gives u this cool,rock tone that u lose when u turn it off. It helps a decent tube amp that has crappy overdrive, like my Marshall DSL40C,if you're used to vintage half stacks,plexi and JCM800 heads with closed back cabinets, a cheaper Marshall combo will always bug you, it's like u try to ge that great,warm sustain..and nearly miss every time. Buy this thing, keep it on all the time, volume up to ten,the gain to taste and the tone below noon. Set the amp to where it just starts breaking up,like a nice AC/DC tone,just barely distorting.then turn this on. : ). Now put another overdrive n set to it, I like the Xotic SL drive or the Donner tube drive nano series ($35!) the TS9 brings out the best in your pedals too, it warms them up. Even if u don't want a lot of drive, use it for a boost,the way it affects the EQ is amazing IMO, it takes out the muddy lows and allows u to sustain those power chords like your playing Madison square garden," kerrrrang!" Essential for thick strat tones,SRV swore by his TS..and it helps a les Paul fire off power chords without the low end screwing up the signal. Just get it, leave it on and trust me.

Excellent pedal, great for solos at low gain and high volume. Its the classic V EQ sound

Bought this a while ago and only just got round to switching out a MXR gain and boost switch for the TS9. Wow! What a difference! The TS9 is so much more versatile and just makes the guitar sound better.
