Winch2Go 4000lb Winch Steel Rope

Mechanic by trade. My driveway is pretty steep and I occasionally need to get a non running vehicle to the top. In the past I’ve used a tire wedged between vehicles to push them up. Pretty sketchy and always some paint rub. I priced a harbor freight winch with a plate, shackles, webbing, snatch block, and I could get close to the price of this kit. But that would be from 4 vendors, driving places, stupid coupons, etc. Like other reviews have stated the latches on the toolbox are plastic. Boo hoo at this price. It’s low cost because of things like this. Been holding up fine for me. Additionally, I found reviewers have stated that the wire wrote frays after repeated use. Any chineseium steel cable will do this. It’s why they make replacement cables. Again, y’all are shopping price here. I’ve used come-alongs in the past, I really regret not getting this earlier in life. Additionally, the box hold everything so you don’t misplace, damage a power lead or remote control if you put it away for some time between uses. I started engineering needs for this once I got it. No more laying under the trailer like a chump trying to rewire it.

I bought this unit lo pull my tractor out of a swampy areas. The tractor was sunk to the axel on one side. By securing the winch to the front of the tractor and looped the cable (via pulley and extra rope) to big tree, I was able to pull my tractor free. I was careful to do it in small bursts, so not to fry the motor. The unit operated as I hoped. The only thing I would change, is to order the apparatus with the rope instead of the cable. The cable shows signs of coming apart. This was mostly my fault, as I was not able to guide the cable properly as it was reeling in under load. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.

Two qualms with this winch kit: 1.) As mentioned by another purchaser, the battery cable is short. I remedied this by using a set of jumper cables to connect to the battery. Problem solved. 2.) The remote is shorter than I would like. I will have to buy another remote to cut and extend the existing one. The winch worked great to load my 600# motorcycle into the back of my truck. No more brake, throttle, and clutch tricks while holding the bike steady. Now I just walk with it and push the winch remote button.... err have someone else push the button for now.

This winch is well worth the money and it never fails me, I can load anything anywhere, if I get stuck I can tether it to a tree a pull myself out, I buy cars at auction and it has successfully loaded everything I have thrown at it, I use a remote deep cycle battery I set up for use in the field and the battery will fail long before the winch ever will, Its portable are versatile and is an all inclusive kit self contained in a weather resistant box. *Winch in service for 3 years now.

Pros: - The winch is very compact and portable. - It has a case that keeps everything nice and neat. Cons: - The winch motor burned up after about the 10th time I used it. It started making a noise and quit. It wouldn't even wind up the loose cable. I haven't abused the winch just very light use. I will contact Super Winch and see if they will do anything. I doubt they will since my winch is just over a year old. I will update my review if they do stand behind their product. - The case is also very flimsy. - The cable is low quality and began to fray after a few uses. The rope might be better.

The winch did everything I needed to do to load a car into my 24' enclosed trailer. I also used it to pull a fire safe up and incline into a trailer. Unfortunately in moving the trailer I ran over the box and winch. I know pretty stupid for sure! I had the box sitting next to the trailer and moved it and ran over the winch box. OK, recover from stupidity and get the replacement storage box part number 87-42685. I emailed the company and got no response. I emailed to another address on the company website with no response. I then called the (800) 323-2031 number. What a joke! The line answers and the voice tells you to dial the parties extension if you know it. That is the only option and and it keeps repeating the announcement. After two days I still can't get this company to call me so I can buy the replacement box. Stupid! I have a metal box that I will modify and installed the guts of the hoist unit myself!

It's important to read the directions and to pull the line out and then let the winch pull it in with at least 100 lb load on. I skipped this step and the cable bunched up and bent itself. Other than that, this is a very powerful winch. I hooked it to my F-250 diesel and pulled a tree stump out about 10". I did some digging around it and cut the roots I could see with a sawzall and this ripped it out like it wasn't even there. Being in the landscaping industry I will find a lot of uses for this.

I bought this as a Christmas present for the Mr. to pull his Sand Car into the toy hauler. Worked great! He used what it came with and utilized the d-rings on the floor of the trailer. He doubled the cable for extra pulling power. He did have to watch the cable placement reeling it back in because the winch moved some, but it is nice that we can put it away after and not have to make any permanent modifications mounting a winch in the trailer.

Pulls dead sleds on to a sled deck without a complaint. Loads cars on to a trailer like the car isn’t even there. Easily outpulls the winch on my grizzly. Like everyone else, I feel the plastic box will be the failure point. Battery leads are ridiculously short. I guess to stay at the price point you can’t have everything.
