I was glad to have found this 72” light for my planted 150 gallon tank. My old light was only half working and I hadn’t realized how much less light it was providing until I set this one up. Wow! My fish and plant colors really pop! Easy to set up. Now, let’s hope it lasts!

Very well done product. I bought Marineland because it seemed better made than the other products. However, their light bar is nowhere near the quality of this prduct. It is difficult to grow plants with standard lighting. This light really lit up the tank and plants love it. Inalso bought the controller. You can set times on/off amd turn om/off blue lights. That said, I like the light color with the blue lights better than without. So if someone didn’t want to buy the controller, they would be fine if they like that color. The bar is made of metal and the sides are conpletely adjustable to fit any tank. Again, it is higher quality than the bar that came with my tank. Definite buy for those wanting to grow plants. And for those who are serious about having a nice tank, you really should consider plants to help balance the chemical byproducts (ammonia, etc). It also provides a nice habitat for fish and looks awesome as well.

This was a huge upgrade from the led light included with my tank. My plants are doing quite well with this light. The light does reach the substrate and penetrates my floaters. The support risers spread the light better than pullout rails. I did purchase the timer and I highly recommend it. I’ve adjusted the timer to 10 hours and I’m getting only a small amount of algae over a two week period. I may move it back to 9.5 hours. This light has given me a fully planted tank without the addition of co2. I do add micro nutrients but am still experimenting with macro ferts. If I remember correctly from the ad, it showed the extension rails and the clear plastic risers. This light did not come with the rails, only the risers. If you are buying this light for a tank longer than the light you will need the extension rails, so double check. This light has an aluminum housing which keeps it from bowing in the middle. The timer gives you the ability to add or subtract the actinic blue when it is in daylight mode. With it off the light is yellow, with it on it is whiter. In the first pic it is on, in the second pic it is off. I don’t know if the pics capture this very well or not. This is a reasonably priced 6500k light with actinic blue. I would definitely recommend this light.

It is a good light with adequate lighting for a lightly planted aquarium. It also has a black-light feature, which is great for glowfish. The leds may say blue, but they produce UV light. I already have a timer and didn't want any gimmicks with my light, so this light was appropriate and I saved money on not having the lightning and such. The only downside is that I can't slowly dim or start this light, which would be nice as to not freak out the fish. Overall, it is a good value. My payoff due to much lower wattage is about two year and the room that the tank is in is actually a bit cooler now. The output is about the same as four 48 inch T-12 bulbs on my 75 gallon tank.

My husband has 180 gallon planted tank. Prior to purchasing this light. Many aquarists with planted tanks seemed to have issues with using LEDs for plants. Frankly, the plants in our tank are thriving under these lights and they are only set at 80%. We replaced a T5 fixture that had eight 3 foot bulbs. The plants are thriving equally as well if not better under this fixture as they were under the T5 fixture. Pros: we purchased 2 6 foot fixtures for the tank which are getting harder and harder to find. Our tank is also a bit older so it isn't rimless. It has 2 cross braces equally spaced so getting four 3 foot fixtures was not an option. Every other option just gets increasingly expensive. For thus reason,we gave the value for the money 5 stars. As an aside, there are plenty of people who still have 6 foot tanks so i emplore manufacturers to keep making 6 foot lights. The legs are great. They are sturdy and hold the light up a good distance off the water but not too far so fast deplete the efficiency of the light. Several viewers complained about the light sagging over the 6 foot span. One reviewer explained what he determined to be the cause. We followed his advise ensuring the legs only provided vertical support and did not try to make them tight against the tank. We've had no issues with sagging. Initially we thought we needed a light with an adjustable spectrum. After reading a million articles about the spectrum needed and reviews on various lights, we decides to take a leap of faith that the manufacturer had designed the light to be the right spectrum for the plants with adjustments needed. Frankly, being able to adjust the spectrum can be a painful exercise in frustration. I have a Tetra Nano on my 32 gal Biocube and he has a 25 gallon hex with a Tetra Nano. I purchased the one for reef tanks, his is for planted tanks. Being able to make the adjustments on those lights is cool but also a pain requiring tons of research to determine what the spectrum should be for each application. I Like the Tetra lights but simple can be a very nice thing as well. Cons: we bought the controller for these lights. It works well and we have no complaints about the functionality. what we do find annoying is the cord length and the fact it goes on the opposite end of the fixture from the fixtures power cord and on/off switches. The cord for the controller could stand to be at least one foot, maybe 2 longer than what it is. We still gave the light 5 stars overall because this issue is really with the controller not the light. All in all, we are very happy with these lights.

I'm running one of the 72" lights on a 100g tank. Everything in the tank loves it. I'm also running CO2, and ferts. I've been able to carpet the tank with pearlweed effectively. Like it so much, I've added another one to really punch up the high-light plants that are going in next. As the light bar by its self, you have either all lights on (white & blue) or blue only. if you add the timer accessory, you can schedule the white and the blues separately. I've got my blues coming on 30 minutes before the whites in the morning, and going off 15 minutes after the whites at night. There have been some comments about the 72" bowing a bit in the middle (its SUPER slim). I experienced a bit of that too, but found that I was able to eliminate the majority of it by loosening up the risers and making sure they don't squeeze the tank edge AT ALL... if they clamp the sides of the tank, that clamping force is transmitted through the length of the light bar causing it to bow down in the middle. More tension = more pronounced droop/bowing... they shouldn't be "clamping" against, the sides. They should be sitting on top... the site supports should be preventing it from sliding side-to-side only. As far as light coloration goes, that's purely a personal preference. Some people like it, some don't. For low-light only tanks, the EA series is great (3 rows of LED's.) for mid-light or deep tanks (24") the DA series is the way to go (5 rows of LED's)

We bought this light to replace a 70" light for our fish tank. That 70" light was a single unit and we were looking for a single unit to replace it. Unlike the indication in the description, title, or product details, which do not mention daisy-chained lights, the seller lists the measurements as 71.5"D x 5.25"W x 1.5"H and lists the number of pieces as "1," this light is not a single light, but two 36" lights daisy-chained together for substantially more than the cost of two 36" lights (72" light is $149.95, two 36" lights are a total of $69.90). In fact, the pictures are carefully curated so as to NOT show that the "72 inch" light is actually two 36" lights daisy-chained together. The item came in more than 1 piece that had to be assembled, but the supports provided for the junction between the two lights are not long enough or strong enough to support the two lights. We have a 72" long fish tank and this daisy-chained light bows in the middle where the two lights are connected. The bow is so significant that the middle of this daisy-chained light is almost 2 inches lower than the ends of the two lights. The lights appear to be working well, so it serves its purpose, but I have to rig the light with support across the middle, which means I lose access to the fish tank without removing the lights and support beam, hence why I wanted a single 70" to 72" light to replace my existing single light.

I've only had this up for a few days, but so far I'm definitely impressed. It may not have all the bells and whistles of some of the higher end models, but for the price I'm definitely impressed so far. The splash guard seems a little flimsy, but overall this product seems well made and is more than enough for my low tech planted 55 gallon community setup. The plants are doing great so far, and it really brings out the color and beauty in my fish. I'll be adding more plants in the near future, but atm I have mostly anubias, Amazon sword, jungle Val and lots of floating plants like duckweed, water lettuce, etc. The floaters have all started extending more roots and the rest have definitely increased in vertical growth during the short time I've had the light set up. If anything changes, I'll try to update my review, but as of now I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase :) I'm working on researching more about aquascaping and plan on working with aquatic plants much more in the near future and will definitely be looking at purchasing more of this model for future tank projects. I would not necessarily say this is a low-key light tank fixture, considering how much brighter this is than my previous tank light - it illuminates most of the living room in the evenings! That being said, I was more interested in medium level lighting anyways, so this perfectly suits my needs at the moment.
