will it filter estrogen

No it doesn't. Neither NSA/ANSI 42 or 53 standard removes estrogen (this filter is certified for both), you would need a filter that is NSF/ANSI 401 certified; as far as I can find there is no filter for the Samsung (or any other refrigerator) with that certification, you would need a separate filtration solution for your entire water supply. I am not sure where Amazon is getting these things from but they are complete junk! I had purchased 2. The first one cracked all along the side leaking water after only 2 months. I thought I must have got a lemon so I put the other one in. 2 week is all it lasted before the entire filter snapped off from the head flooding our kitchen! I am so mad right now with Amazon. I will NEVER purchase another water filter off Amazon. Please spend the extra money and just get it direct from you refrigerator manufacturer so you know for sure it’s authentic and the quality is up to spec. Amazon should be ashamed of themselves selling this junk.

Has anyone else gotten a bunch of grey water right after replacing? Is this normal? It clears up after a gallon or so but haven't had this on previous

As per the manual, you need to run a bunch of water through the filter to clear charcoal sentiment.  The exact procedure I follow is:1. Turn off ice maker (to prevent water from running into it)2. Change water filter.  It is not necessary to turn water off first, but be careful as there will be water in the filter you remove.3. With a pitcher collect water from the door until the water is clear and appears drinkable (maybe 2-3 gallons typically).4. Turn ice maker back on.5. Reset water filter light.

my current filter says haf-sin/xme and da29-00020a/b. is this a compatible replacement?

Yes! My filter says the same thing. I went to lowe's and asked about it, they said its the same exact filter they just changed the last letter just to update it. But, yes, it is compatible.
