The Chinese Greenhouse: Design and Build a Low-Cost, Passive Solar Greenhouse...

I have long been a Dan Chiras fan. Even had him serve as our keynote speaker while I was president of a building official's organization. This book continues the Chiras tradition of good research, presented in an easy to understand and implement fashion. It arrived just in time as we start the design of our greenhouse on our Western Colorado property. Many of the technologies he discusses will be employed in the project.

I probably will never build a Chinese greenhouse, but it still was worth reading. I found it very interesting, no regrets.

So far it’s a good read, but pp 119-150 are upside down! Not a deal breaker but come on!!

A good foundational book for research before you build your own Chinese style greenhouse that requires no supplemental heat and no electricity. If everyone had one of these in their back yards, you could save a lot on high food prices.

Was looking for earth sheltered greenhouses and differing greenhouse designs. So many books I’ve ordered off of Amazon seem to have greyscale imagery which makes it almost impossible to view the image examples. This book was worth the cost. Thank you to the author and publisher, big thumbs up!

Excellent source for research, ideas and plans. Well done explanations on thermal properties and reasons for the shape and structure of the buildings. Good hands-on illustrations and projects.

Product had water damage on the book, but it has not raised in weeks so I don’t think it’s the carrier but more manufacturers

not good value. Just look up solar Greenhouse on the internet. ll thie information is out there aleady. Its telling yo tht its chinese idea, but it is used all over. Its a basic thermal store in the groung with warm ai drawn in and heat stored in thermal mass. Over piced consideing the quality of the binding is very low and the information is available on line.

I bought this book with a lot on my shelf, but I heard the author speak at the Hope, Knowledge and a Plan, Global Permaculture Summit and just so compelling. I’m not disappointed. I think it’s the fastest route I could have picked to update myself on what we’re all working towards. I’ll be passing this one around. Needing another copy already! :)

The book was full of great information and lots of pictures. Some great plans and ideas to move forward from.

I like the fact that the book shows schematics and drawings how to best utilize materials to make a very efficient Greenhouse
