What draw weight does this come initially set as?

The bow has a draw weight of 25 - 40 lbs. It is adjusted easily with the ellen screws / limb attachment bolts which are fully screwed in when shipped which is the max of 40 lbs.

Does the genx come ready to shoot? arrow rest looks same as original genesis. just want simple bow with higher dw.

No. I had to run out to a local archery shop to buy an arrow rest when mine came in. But luckily the store had a NAP (New Archery Products) magnetic style flipper rest just like the ones included with the original Genesis (regular) bows. (This one was a screw in model, but otherwise they work and look exactly the same).

Interested in buying this since I am first time user. Does this come with the bare minimum to start shooting? I don't need any fancy extras yet.

It is the absolute bare minimum needed. You'll have to look up how to increase or decrease the draw weight on it, it does not come with those directions, but if the weight it come set at is good for you it is set up to start shooting right out of the box. It does not come with any arrows or protective gear so you will want to look into that first if you do not already have something.

What draw weight is bow shipped at. I am used to a recurve? The initial pull seems to be in 40 area.

The Gen-X is easily adjustable with the supplied ellen wrench from 25 - 40 lbs. It comes tightened down to max draw weight of 40 lbs.
