Craftsman 9-31794 Slotted Phillips Screwdriver Set, 17 Piece

So, over time, all of my husband's screwdrivers went walkabout. I will neither confirm nor deny I might have had a small part to play in that problem. In looking to replace his flatheads and phillips heads, I needed a good quality and high assortment of various sized screwdrivers that would make him happy, and less grumpy because his tools were gone. Enter in this 17-piece set by Craftsman. Great quality, well known name in tools, and now we can all breathe easy again, for now. Highly recommend.

They seem fine but you can tell they are not the Craftsman brand from years ago. I bought this set back in the 90's when they were made in US and they are remarkably more robust and stronger feeing. I just wanted some new ones because the 40 year old ones looked bad but they are better even at 40 years old. I will pay more for quality especially made in the us products. You can not find hand tools anymore made in the US maybe a few but even some of them are not made here now. For what its worth these seem fine but they are just not the quality they used to be.

My 1970's set of Craftsman screwdrivers was in a toolbox that was stolen recently. Was glad all the sizes still in one nice package for me to replace. The others had served me well for 40+ years of prying, pounding, and even putting in or tightening various screws in all manner of places or hard to reach locations. From stubby ones to the long reach ones, the set covers all my needs. Well marked, well made, color coded, easy to hold and use so why try to fix something that is not broken. Excellent deal to this day from Craftsman and good price on Amazon to boot!

The tools themselves, meet all expectations. However, that packaging needs to go. It is the most difficult plastic packaging that I have EVER encountered, in terms of getting to the product. Not only is that plastic tough, but it also has plastic studs embedded throughout, which prevent the package from being opened. You will need VERY heavy duty tin snips, and/or a VERY large, heavy, and sharp knife to open this package. I used tin snips, AND a 4Max scout 4 inch heavy duty folding knife to eventually free up the tools from it's plastic tomb. It still took me several minutes of effort. If you can work with the packaging, this is a great tool set. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

There is a lot there. But same and were when we used to use our Fathers growing up.

Good heads to these screwdrivers and I like the fact the Philips and flatheads have different coloured handles, only downside is plastic handles look a tad cheap
