Very Helpful
I do love this book. The information and tips and breakdowns are excellent. For the size it is packed with useful information to help you progress your artistic skill. I would recommend it for beginners the step by step example and references make a good starting point to learn and expand on.

Step by step
I have been out of art and art applications for about40 years....The book focuses on the way different shapes can be used, then broken down using the shapes to finish these dragons and other mythical animals. I'm recommending this book to my family (extended family). Then I'm buying more books from this series.

drawing simplified
This book shows you how to simplify your drawings. You break down the subject into basic shapes like circles and triangles which later become body parts like a head or claws. I found the chart of how to create different textures very helpful and a great resource to look back at. I was amazed at how easy it was when you followed the step by step instructions. I would have been overwhelmed if I had tried to draw the creatures from the end drawing. But breaking it down it into steps and leaving the details for the end makes the process much easier. I like to paint more than I like to draw. However, I think the principals I learned about shadows and highlights will help me in my painting. As you are drawing you realize how well-placed shadows will help show proportion and depth. The last portion of the book covers added color to your drawings. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in learning to draw. I received this book from NetGalley.

Beautiful illustrations and instruction!! Loved this guide to drawing.
I am so impressed with this book. It has beautiful illustrations with fairly detailed instructions for learning to draw dragons and other fantasy art. I feel it will take me time to become as good as the artist but with practice and these steps I believe I can accomplish fairly decent drawings of all my favorites and more. I received this book from netgalley for an honest opinion and I love it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy!

Not a good book if you’re just learning how to draw. You need to have been drawing for some time in order to draw what the book shows you.

I love this little book, though its the size of the average paperback. Its too nice to draw on the practice pages but thats what journals and paper scraps are for. There are plenty of dragons of all varieties and styles from abominable hell-razers to cute babies with plenty to practice your skills, so grab a pencil or pen, select your target dragon and get mark-making! What is really good is that there are not pages and pages of text with tiny pictures, this really is a book for practicing your drawing. The dragons are identified, of course, and there is a little about the basic facts, but then its down to the serious stuff. Well worth it!
