seems like great value ink
It's not spectacular ... but for a general daily-use black ink, it actually writes well. I was not expecting much ... I actually bought b/c this was the cheapest way I could get a few cartridges to refill will a syringe (empty cartridges hold so much more than the little twist-to-suck-up converters). I tend to use decent but not exquisite ink - Cross, Lamy, Pelican, Parker, Pilot, etc. I use similar pens - decent but not $$$ - parker, pilot, cross, ... this ink is for a HongDiang (F nib) which came with a converter but no cartridge. To my surprise, this ink writes better than I expected. It is fairly bold and smooth and it dries relatively quickly and doesn't smudge when used in the HonDiang with a F nib. I'm curious how it will do in one with an EF nib, but I've not tried that ...yet. It seems to flow fairly well and I've had neither clogs or skipping. It may have just the slightest amount more drag than some blue-black ink I had tried the pen out with, but that ink is not nearly so bold/dark and almost has a slight translucence and water-y look as it lays down. So, yeah, this isn't bad stuff!! Instead of using a couple to get the cartridges and leaving the rest in a drawer like I expected, I'll probably just use these for a while in the couple pens I have that take THIS size cartridge. The cartridges snapped into my pen with exactly the amount of force I am used to the dozen or two fountain pens I have - no excessive force at all. It sealed very well and after week or so of storing the pen lying flat or tip-down between uses (Don't judge me ... I wanted to check for leaks), I've had no leaks or bleeds whatsoever. >>> DO <<< make sure you are matching the cartridge to your pen!!!!!! I saw some reviews saying it leaked badly, but reading those closely, I wonder if some dear folks don't realize you MUST match the cartridge to your pen exactly. While there are a few "standards," there are many, many such different "standards" and fountain pens cartridges are ANYTHING but one-size-fits-most ... so please, please, PLEASE, do yourself a favor and do get the CORRECT cartridge for your pen. This is nice DARK, BOLD, black ink so of course, if it doesn't fit correctly into your pen and thus leaks, you are going to have a mess that will likely be VERY difficult to clean up!!! Please don't put yourself through that!!

flows smoothly, water can pull out a faint blue shadow
There is no getting around the fact that these are a bargain! 120 cartridges that fit nicely in Hongdian pens (3.4mm bore ) ...no messing with ink stores while traveling! I picked these up because I've spilled ink on my desk at work twice now ...(btw, hand sanitizer and window cleaner are great for cleaning ink messes.) So I've been trying it out by sketching with a fountain pen (EF nib). The ink flows smoothly and has no trouble producing both thin and thick lines. It is not completely waterproof...you can see in the posted images, the shading on the rabbits is done with both hatching and a generous amount of water from a water pen. The ink does not loose enough of its color to water to produce dark shading on it's own, but it does shed a very light bluish grey tone - something to keep in mind if you were hoping to use watercolor over the top. But the lines remain nicely sharp. It's kind of a nice effect for adding a touch of shadow to sketching.

Great ink, proper fit, probably never have to order again. :)
Ok. Great ink, fit correctly. My only complaint is that somehow it slipped my attention that I was ordering 120. So I guess I have ink until mid-century.

Too Much Ink
Way too many ink cartridges... the ink cartridges will dry out before I can use them. The pen that I bought with them is phenominal!

Not for Sheaffer Calligraphy pens
Apparently, Calligraphy is going the way of cursive. I have been doing Calligraphy for years and needed ink cartridges. The way these are structured you can't punch through the tip of the pen to load them. On either end of the cartridge. I don't know if they work with other pens but they don't work with Sheaffer pens. Really sad because they were a great price.

works as advertised
Did not fit my old fountain pen so found Hongdian 920S fountain pen on Amazon for $12. Fits great, writes great, highly recommended.

Great value for the money but NOT FOR AMERICAN STANDARD PENS!
I am half way through my second order of these cartridges. I write a lot and have used 150 of these cartridges in the two and a half years I have been using a fountain pen. These are NOT for standard American fountain pens. These cartridges are for 3.4 mm diameter socket fountain pens which is a much larger diameter than the American standard fountain pens. If you try to use them in an American standard pen they will not seal and the ink will leak everywhere. I have used 150 of them and never had a leak but my pen is from an international maker and has the 3.4mm socket.
