"play while you are away," does this mean it will automatically turn on/off randomly throughout the day? or do you need to push a button each time?

Hello Audrey, this toy will turn on and off throughout the day if set up for Play While you are Away Mode. It will provide one 15 minute play session, turn off for two hours, then another 15 minute session, then off. Please observe your cat's response to the toy before leaving them alone with the toy.

It stops after 10 seconds then a red light comes on. After a few minutes, it flashes green but nothing happens. How do I get it to run for 15 minutes?

Not sure, i never set it. I just turn it on for my cat when I leave the house in the morning. it is still dark and it keeps her amused for the 15 minutes. make sure your batteries are good.
