I don't get any psychoactive effect from the product until I've taken 5 capsules, and the effect is way too subtle and doesn't begin to last more than an hour (e.g good for sleep) unless I've taken at least 10-12 over a period of 3-4 hours. I think the price is decent, however, as it is pure kava root extract and is not combined with other supplements. You should NEVER combine supplements in one capsule, as you might end up under-dosing one, and over-dosing the other (the effectiveness of a supplement varies across people).
