More like "Killer is a Strange Creeper"
I never played Killer 7 or either of the No More Heroes games, but I really enjoyed Suda51's "Lollipop Chainsaw" and "Shadows of the Damned" (the latter of which may be more Shinji Mikami than Suda51). So I've been looking forward to "Killer is Dead" for several months. One big plus is that it comes in a collectible box with a soundtrack and art book, for the same price as many other games that can't even be bothered to include as much as a real manual in the case these days. It's definitely a collection-worthy set. This is a third-person action game with combos to learn and upgrade, sub-weapons (amounting to various guns, plus a drill) to earn and upgrade, and various skills to improve. The combat here doesn't disappoint. In some games -- I'm looking at you, Meal Gear Rising -- the combat just doesn't seem to make much sense, and seems to depend more on wild button mashing and luck than any actual skill and understanding of how the systems work. What I like about Killer is Dead -- which was true in Lollipop Chainsaw as well -- is that the combos make sense. The game offers meaningful prompts, there is a good variety, and skill as a player actually improves. The upgrades help too, making things easier in challenges and replays. There are three kinds of missions: story missions (12 of them), challenge missions (which are unlocked by finding Nurse Scarlett hidden multiple times in some of the levels, and challenge you to defeat enemies in a certain way -- without losing health, or using only a certain weapon, and so forth), and side missions (which unlock over time, and offer various other mission-based objectives). There is a good variety to the side missions especially.Well, there are actually four kinds of missions, with the last being a "Gigolo" mission. This has to rate among the strangest things I've seen in a video game. It amounts to "ogling" some girl (there are two to choose from, plus a third with the included DLC) while sitting near her. You're supposed to look her in the eyes when she's looking your way, but then take mental photos of her body (chest, legs) when she's looking away. This fills a meter which eventually lets you offer some gift, and once this is done two or three times, you "seal the deal" so to speak. Later, you'll be able to get x-ray glasses to temporarily get a glimpse of their undies.Yes, it's just as creepy and uncomfortable as it sounds.Without spoiling anything in the story, I'll say this. It makes no sense whatsoever. I mean, there are pieces of it that do make sense. But taken as a whole, it's almost incomprehensible. That's a shame, because it's presented in a cool graphical style and with a kind of noir feel to it. So it would have been nice if certain aspects of the story were actually explained, or at least hinted at a little more. This level of absurdity seems out of place even for Suda51. For all I know, the whole thing is just the protagonist's fever dream, although that doesn't appear to be the case. And I say this after doing three full play-throughs. It doesn't seem to make more sense than it did the first time. The included DLC seems to be content that was purposely excluded from the game for the sake of having a first-buyer incentive. There is even a section in mission 7 where one of Mondo's comrades comments that the target is similar to a vampire he fought earlier. I remembered fighting no vampire, but shrugged it off. Later, while playing "Mission 51" (part of the DLC-locked content), lo and behold, there's the vampire fight. Plus, the extra content has another "Beauty" Gigolo mission, making it all feel like stuff that was originally intended to be part of the main experience. With various missions and difficulty-based achievements (which don't stack), it does have a good deal of replayability. There are no online modes (other than a leaderboard, which people have already maxed out in ways I can only assume involve cheats or exploits) or multiplayer modes. It's a game that I do recommend, but it's in no way mainstream. If you're a fan of Suda51's other work, and like something a bit more esoteric, this may be the game for you.

Excellent Action Game If You Don't Mind Weird Stuff
This game is very unique in a good way. Directed by the Japanese director known for "Killer 7" the game clearly shows the somewhat irreverent post-modern style. I would say some levels could even be described as avant-garde. This may be good or bad, depending how you look at games. If you enjoy traditional character types and story where you expect normal dialogue and linear progression this isn't exactly it. The game has very strange and often creepy dialogue, it somewhat objectifies women, (and men) hence my previous description "irreverent".The game heavily focuses, perhaps as a parody, on cyberpunk style. You and other characters casually have cybernetic limbs and implants and everyone acts casually like they're not there. At the same time the gameplay is shown in high contrast, dark shadows, environment and is accompanied by 70s acid jazz music . Not exactly to my liking but it plays only in the main menu.It has an interesting mini game where your character is going on dates with different girls over the world. You have to go on those dates to get new weapons or items actually. So the game is definitely aimed at men.Gameplay itself feels like a very good button mashing combo pressing fighting game. You unlock moves as you gain crystals. You have to learn the righty timing to get the moves to work. Have to know when to use what melee weapon or item. So the gameplay is very solid. Graphics may not be the best, and in fact they are kind of abstract frequently, but it does not hinder anything. Action looks stylish and exciting. The main character is somewhat relatable male.It should be mentioned that the game is very violent and you will see some things you would never expect to see in games as far as violence or suggestive sexual content. Whether you like that type of thing or not it makes this game all the more special and worth to check out.Note: while the game is excellent; it is important to know that the content in the game is definitely, absolutely not for kids. There is some very gruesome scenes of gore and dark humor all over.

The Mission
The story of a hit-man bound by blood; unable to escape the moon's pull. ... Mondo has an inexplicable, anthropomorphic unicorn; and harbors the weird, typical Japanese portrayal of a "cute", too old to be acting that way, sidekick (to an extent)... in his boat...Comments: Mika, the girl that the protagonist shelters could be a lot more interesting. For starters, actually make her look much younger. Like a little sister of sorts, yet still not blood-related. Since this is not the case, most would find her a nuisance. Keep in mind, this game is made by Japanese developers.Gripe: Heels. Can you stop with the heels? Makes me think people like having them around because it looks more feminine. I guess it does, but sometimes it just looks as though it should be off of someone's feet. It might help them relax, you know? More flexible too. In the case of ninjas in dead or alive, replace them. I'm starting to think Ryu is wearing them too...

No le llega a Killer 7
El producto físicamente es excelente; lamentablemente el juego en sí no me pareció tan bueno. No se me malentienda, no es mal juego, sólo que esperaba fuera un poco más como Killer 7
