Best currants for English baking

These currants were required for my homemade mincemeat recipe (I needed exactly 8 ounces !!) I found that many of the ingredients are available from Amazon for a great savings. My mincemeat turned out exceptionally delicious for Christmas recipes. Used 1 quart and had enough left to freeze 3 quarts for later use. So, I got 4 quarts for the cost of 1 quart commercially made mincemeat. Thanks Amazon, for making the ingredients available and for the overall savings.

I was delighted to find these dried currants. They were very good in my recent batch of oatmeal, red currant cookies. Fresh red currants are not regularly stocked at many of the grocery stores in my area. Dried is the best you can do and for bakers, that's fine. Just pop unused portion (in the resealable bag) into the refrigerator along with your nuts.

Zante currants are always fresh ... very nutricious. I use the currants in salads, baked goods or from the bag.
