"Of course I could just buy a scrubber and use that," I said to a casual friend who upon seeing this brush on my kitchen windowsill asked why I bought an "avocado brush." But the truth is, as I explained to her, was that I would never mistake this for anything other than what it was (and accidentally use it for scrubbing a dirty pan) plus it had the advantage of being easy to grip and hold, even with wet hands. I tend to be a bit fussy about keeping items used for certain things just for those things and I have come to appreciate how OXO is particularly good at thinking through their product designs before manufacturing them. So when I came across this my immediate thought was an upbeat "hmmm," meaning "that's interesting!" The price is good so I tried it--and I have to say I am very, very happy with it. I tend toward minimalism so I do not have a lot of kitchen utensils or gadgets. The ones I do have, especially ones best suited to singular tasks, need to do their jobs very well. I really the shape of the brush; it fits comfortably and securely into my hand and thanks to its ergonomic design it feels sturdy as well. The brushes are sufficiently stiff to ensure a good cleaning and you can put it in the dishwasher. I've used it on the usual carrots and potatoes but also on things I am going to peel such as citrus, pomegranates, passion fruit, bananas and, a tad more gently, on plums and nectarines. In short, this brush is another triumph for. OXO--and for us. Highly recommended.

Does a very good job of cleaning potatoes.

This is a hard-bristle brush intended for vegetables that can take a beating like carrots, potatoes, etc. I would not use this product for softer vegetables like mushrooms -- it will destroy them. The brush fits well in the palm and the size is good. The nylon bristles provide some flexibility and a decent amount of strength that is good for a surface-level cleaning. The best results will be from hard vegetables with a smooth skin because all of the bristles can work together at full strength. When there are holes or divots, it is less effective as the bristles are quite weak when only a few of them are able to touch the surface of the vegetable.

This brush seems to be the perfect size for cleaning veggies. I really scrub potatoes and this does a great job. Largest brush I have found and fits my hand perfectly and is stable without slipping around. Soft material feels good in your hand. Bristles are the correct stiffness for cleaning. Color makes it easy to find in the drawer. Price is not the lowest but this is the best one I have used.

This was one of those “why didn’t I get this sooner?” purchases. I originally bought it to scrub potatoes, and it does that perfectly — but I’ve found myself using it for so much more. This is easer for cleaning vegetable skin than those clumsy brushes with handles. However, when I went to clean a live snake with this brush, I realized that I should have some distance between my hand and the bristles, so I used one with a handle, in that instance.

Wonderful scrub brush for vegetables. Easy to use and I pop it in the dishwasher to clean it

Not entirely bad but can’t completely scrub the wax off the apple.

I have purchased a couple of these for scrubbing jacket potatoes or new potatoes before cooking and they are fantastic, they get the soil off the skins and clean out the eyes on the potatoes. lovely quality and easy to hold when scrubbing.

A great little vege brush - fits in your hand nicely, scrubs well and the colour ensures it doesn’t get tossed out with your peelings!
